Starting high school can be difficult. Everyone is nervous and nobody knows where to go for classes. Thinking about making new friends might make you feel nervous, too. But don't worry because you are not alone. You are going to school with a group of students of your age, and we have several suggestions for you to follow.

Don't be afraid to get close to strangers. Introduce yourself and start a conversation about something you have in common. Sit in the middle of the classroom with many new friends around you as possible.

Take part in afterschool activities that interest you. Try to make friends in clubs. If you don't join anything, you will be just going to classes and then going home. Being in a club makes you more social.
Stay clean.
No one likes a bad smell that could knock somebody over. Shower every day, brush your teeth and wash your hair. You should make yourself look clean and tidy, whatever you wear.

From my father I have learned a lot.And I'm very thankful to him.I remember when I was a child my father always got up very early, quietly putting on his clothes and going off to work.To arrive on time to open his tiny store at 8:30,he needed to leave our apartment at 6:30.After all,he had to take a bus and then the subway. The last journey was a long walk through a neighborhood much of which was full of the smell of rubbish.I learned:it is very important to work.No excuse.
When I was 12,I would,on some Saturdays,go to my father's store to help out. After helping set up the outside clothing display, for the rest of the day,I'd watch to make sure no one stole anything. When I noticed someone looking unusual or strange,I would look at the person in the eye, smile and say,“May I help you?”Usually that worked, but sometimes, someone would run off with something. The first time,I ran after the thief but my father shouted,“Martin, stop! There is no need to do that.” It's true that safety is more important than money.
After 10 years of hard work,he saved up enough money to buy his first car,a cheap one-he wouldn't buy one until he could afford to pay for it without
borrowing money.I learned:buy only what you can afford.Buying necessary food and clothing won't make us go in debt(债务).The unnecessary things won't give us happiness, which comes from achievement only.

Before the class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our grades.
“Absolutely,”the teacher said.“in your life, you will meet many people. All are important. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is to smile and to say hello.”

Imagine 50 years from now. Imagine the perfect school.
Getting to school is already difficult because of traffic. In 50 years' time, it will be even more difficult. A solution is needed. Imagine there is a big cyber-school, but the classes are in many different places, both in the suburbs and the city. You would never need to walk more than 10 minutes to get to school.
Once you get there, there is no teacher speaking at the front of the class. Instead there is a large screen playing a video of the teacher. There is a classroom helper who walks around helping you with your problems. You can get the best teaching there, and you have a helper who can help you understand your work. You listen to the teacher for only 15 minutes. Then you work in teams to do group projects and solve problems together.
The days of pen and paper are gone. You each have your own computer and you do all your work and tasks on it. After classes finish, you can stay there and talk with your school friends.
You each have a locker to keep your personal things. There is a fridge to keep your lunch and a microwave to warm it. There are sofas to sit on when it's time to read a book.
Your class would always be cool in summer and warm in winter. There is solar and wind power on the roof of the building. Each room is kept at a comfortable temperature automatically.
The school of the future is high-tech, but it is a friendly place to be!
