教材分析 本单元围绕动物和动物保护这一话题展开教学。课本先从Danny和Jenny的对话开始 让学生了解养宠物的情况,接着详细介绍了令人吃惊的动物、动物园的情况、拯救动物和动物之间的友谊。本课为第三单元第五课,主题是保护动物,这是《义务教育课程标准》的主要话题之一。教材围绕谈论有关保护老虎的情况,引出了本课的词汇如下:century,courage,brave,reason,kill,cut(cut,cut),in danger,food chain,drop to,cut down,本课内容与学生的实际生活密切相关,又是现代社会急需解决的问题。本课承上启下,对单元话题起到了升华的作用。
学情分析 八年级的学生已经初步具备了听说读写的能力,但水平两极分化仍不容忽视,尤其是学生口语、书面表达相对薄弱,因此在教学活动的设计上要尽量考虑不同层次学生的能力水平,多给予鼓励,增强其自信心。
教学目标 By the end of this lesson ,the students are able to :1.Memorize the following words according to the context:century,courage,brave,reason,kill,cut(cut,cut).2.80% of them could understand the passage by listening,75% of them could talk about the tigers in English.3.Work in groups ,70% of them could discuss how to protect the tigers by using mind map and realize that animals are our friends and know how to protect them..

Step 1:Lead in(pre-listening) Before listening, ask them a question:What’s your impression (印象)about tigers According to the pictures, express their feelings about tigers freely.Big, cute, large, strong, fierce, cruel...... 开门见山,通过图片导入老虎,学生自由表达对老虎的印象,激发学生的学习兴趣。
Step2:Listening(while-listening)Step3:Listening(while-listening) Task 1:ListeningAsk the students to listen to the passage and fill in the blanks.Listen for some facts about tigers. 1.Before listening, try to predict the answer according to the given information(the red words). 2.Listen carefully and fill in the blanks. 听前根据题目预测信息,训练基本听力技能,提取关键信息,初步了解老虎的基本信息。
Task2:Reading1.Read the passage and complete the mind map in groups. 1.Read the passage carefully, then work in groups,complete the mind map to get the main idea of the whole passage and some details. 训练学生获取主要信息的能力。抓住细节,重点把握文章的主要内容,深化对文本的理解,梳理文本的同时,思考解决问题地方法,为下一环节的讨论输出做铺垫。
2.Ask the students to watch a video and express their feelings. Watch the video carefully, try to talk about what they saw and how they felt.How do you feel What do you want to say to people What do you want to say to the tigers What should we do 通过观看老虎被捕杀视频,和导入时对老虎的印象进行对比,表达真实感受,导出本课主题“save the tigers”,为下一步讨论做铺垫。

Step4:Exploring(Post-listening) Task 4: Speaking Animals are our friends! Every group show the composition in front of the class . 通过从多角度思考保护动物的方法,培养学生的辨证思维能力,客观地分析人与动物的关系,培养学生的人文情怀,升华单元主题。
Step5.Acting(Post-listening) Enjoy a play about what can we do for the animals in our daily life. Learn from others by exchanging with each other. 情景剧表演,让学生在情境中分享交流,共同提高。
