Lesson 19 How Do You Use the Internet
Teaching aims:
Knowledge: 1.Read, understand and use the new words: technology, keyboard, industry.
2.Understand the Adverbial Clause with “if”.
Ability: 1. To talk about “How do you use the internet ”
2. To know about computers.
Emotion: To make good use of Internet source and technology to solve the learning problems in life. Don’t waste time on playing computer games.
Teaching difficult points and important points:
To use the Adverbial Clause with “if” and to talk about how to use the internet.
Teaching tools: PPT, a tablet.
Teaching steps:
Step1: Lead-in and warm up.
Greeting :
Hello! Boys and girls! Welcome to our class.
Lead-in :
Today is Children’s Day. I feel happy!
Teacher: How do you feel
Students: I feel …….
On such a happy day, let’s enjoy a song. (An English song)
Teacher: Do you know where I get the song
Students: Internet.
Show a tablet and tell them : I download the song from it. Learn the new word: tablet.
Step2: Presentation:
1. Learn the three kinds of computers.
tablet desktop laptop
2. Name the parts of a desktop.
desktop: keyboard , screen, monitor, mouse
3. Say the differences between desktop and tablet.
Desktop: It has monitor, keyboard and mouse.
Tablet: It has no keyboard or mouse.
Teacher: A tablet is easy to carry. We can use it anywhere. Today let’s learn “How do you use the Internet ”
Step3: New concept.
1. Show some pictures and ask: “What are they doing ”
1) Two boys are playing games.
2) A boy is chatting with his mother online.
3) A woman shops online. She bought many things.
4) I am working on the computer.
So computer is helpful and important.
Show another two pictures to learn the new words:
I can use internet to collect information about the industry.
I also use it to send an invitation if we have a party.
So we can say Internet is a high technology.
Step4: Activities.
1. Let’s listen.
Listen to the text and fill in the blanks.
2. Let’s read.
Ask students to read each part twice and answer the questions.
What do Jenny, Danny and Brain like to use the Internet to do
3. Let’s talk.
Ask students to discuss with their partner:
How do you use the Internet
4. Let’s think.
Ask some students to interview other students:
What will you do if you have a tablet
5. Let’s write.
Write down a passage what you like to do on the internet. Write it as more as possible.
6. Let’s show.
Ask students to show their writings.
Teacher: What do you think of internet
Students: helpful ,important ,interning…….
Show some pictures (some behaviors are bad for us.)
Tell students to remember:
Internet is not only good for us but also bad for us. We should use it in a right way.
Step5: Summary.
Sum up what we learned from this lesson.
Step6: Homework.
This is my English friend. Now she is in Canada. We often chat by QQ or send e-mails to talk about schoolwork. Can you help me write an e-mail to her and tell what we learned from Lesson 19.
