Lesson 31: Don't Fall, Danny!
学习目标
1. 能够掌握课标要求的“四会”词汇:relative。
2. 能了解如何介绍自己喜欢的运动和创造的记录。
3. 能了解如何询问对方喜欢的运动。
4. 能初步了解形容词和副词等级变化的用法。
学习重难点
1. 掌握一些与介绍个人记录有关的词汇:record,keep,champion,break。
2. 运用所学知识介绍自己的某项个人记录。
3. 掌握以下重点句子:
(1) I want to set a new world record.
(2) I have been standing on one foot for more than three minutes.
(3) In seven hours and fifty-seven minutes, you'll be the champion!
(4) But my family is going to have a gathering tonight.

Step 1 Lead-in
Discuss the following questions:
What world records do you know of
Do you think you can set a record in your class
What is your own record
Discuss the questions in groups. The teacher shows some pictures about different sports.
Ask the students to talk for three minutes. Then let them present them in class.
Step 2 Listening
Listen to the tape and find the answers to the questions:
1. Why is Danny standing on one foot
2. What is the record of standing on one foot
3. What will Jenny bring to Danny
Finish the task in class orally.
Step 3 Reading
Read the dialogue and decide whether the statements are true or false.
1. Danny is the champion of standing on one foot.
2. Danny has been standing on one foot for over three minutes.
3. Jenny’s mother is cooking chicken for them.
Finish the task in class orally.
Step 4 Activities
1. Introduce your records in groups.
What is your favourite sport
Why do you like it
What's your record Make a dialogue among three or four students. Then present it in front of the class.
2. Work with your partner. Write a letter to each other to introduce your favourite sport and record.
Step 5 Write a short note
Suppose you are going to introduce your sport and record. Write a short note. Remember to tell something about your favourite sport and record. Practice for a while. Then some students read their notes in front of the class.
Step 6 Come to "Let's Do It!"
Read the dialogue and finish off Exercises 1.
Read the lesson again and finish off Exercise 2 together.
Work with your partners. Act out a dialogue. Suppose you and your partners are Danny, Jenny and Brian.
Practice for a while. Then some students present their dialogues in front of the class.
