内容分析
本课是PEP小学英语三年级起点第二册Unit3第一课时。在Let’s talk部分,
Miss White带着学生们在动物园参观动物,Zhang Peng和Amy观察了长颈鹿和熊,并描述了它们的特征,由此引出本课时的重点词汇:tall,short,fat,giraffe,以及描述动物特征的句式:It’s so tall.在Draw and say的练习活动中,John和Chen Jie分别画了一个动物,并用It’s...句式来描述。以此为范例,希望学生可以画出自己的动物并进行描述。
课时目标
知识与能力
(1)通过观察 谈论Let’s talk板块的图片,能够在PPT和教师的帮助下理解对话大意。
(2)能够在实际情景中恰当运用句型“Look at…” “It’s (so)…”来介绍动物或者身边的物品。
(3)能够听懂 会说新单词“tall, short, fat”,并恰当地运用它们来介绍动物。

过程与方法
首先,播放动物园各种动物的视频,带领学生复习关于动物的单词,让学生为
新课的学习做好知识储备 再利用图片呈现教学内容,并以肢体动作加以辅助,学生可以直观而清楚地感知新授词汇的含义,加深印象
其次,和学生一起观看视频,让学生在视频原声中感受英语的魅力 再播放
录音,让学生听录音跟读 引导学生按照正确的语音 语调及意群朗读对话,并能在小组中进行角色表演 利用多种游戏,让学生操练句型,创设真实的情景,让学生在情境中运用所学知识,达到学以致用的目的 活动源于课本,又与实际紧密结合,培养学生的语言综合运用能力
最后,通过动手画画和语言表达相结合,帮助学生巩固记忆动物单词以及描述动物特征的句型

Step 1: Warm-up & Revision & Lead-in
Greeting to each other.
Let’s chant together. (课件出示:教材P15 Let’s chant的视频。)

The teacher wears a headwear of an elephant and act it out.
T: Now I have a long nose. I have two big ears and a short tail. Please guess who am I
Ss: (The students can say it in Chinese.)大象(Elephant)!
T: Well done ! It’s an elephant. (课件出示:大象图片。) Look, it’s very big.
T: Then the second one. I’m white and black. I like eating bamboos! Please guess who am I
Ss: (The students can say it in Chinese.)熊猫(Panda)!
T: Good job ! Look, it’s a panda. (课件出示:熊猫图片。)
The teacher says first and the students repeat : Fat, fat,fat. It’s fat.
Short, short, short. It’s short. So It’s fat and short.
Students try to read the words “fat, short” and the sentence “It’s fat and short” three times by themselves.
T:The third one. I am brown. And I’m also very fat and short. Please guess who am I
Ss:(The students can say it in Chinese.)熊(Bear)!
T:Good!Look, it’s a bear. (课件出示:熊的图片。)
(Explain students to remember the word “bear”. )
T: OK,the last one. My neck and legs are so long. And I’m very tall. Please guess who am I
Ss:(The students can say it in Chinese.)长颈鹿(Giraffe)!
T: Great! It’s a giraffe. (课件出示:长颈鹿图片。) Look, It’s very tall.
(Teach students to understand the word “giraffe”. )
T: Before the class, I would like to divide you into two groups. They are Group Giraffe and Group Bear. Which group gets the most scores, it will be the winner.
Step 2: Presentation
T: Do you like going to the zoo What animals are there in the zoo Do you want to know
Ss: Sure!
T: Let’s have a look together !
Put a picture about animals at the zoo. (课件出示:一张关于动物园各种动物的照片。)
T: (Several minutes later.)After watching,what can you see
Ss: Monkey./Tiger./Panda./Bear./Elephant./Giraffe./…
(If The students can’t say it in English,they can speak Chinese instead.)
Show the pictures of “elephant,panda, bear, giraffe” again. (课件出示:再次呈现大象、熊猫 熊 长颈鹿图片。)
T: You are right!We can see lots of animals. Look at the elephant first. It’s so big. (The teacher makes the gesture.)
(Write down the words “tall” on the blackboard. )
T:Look at the giraffe. It’s so tall.
Follow me. So—so—so↗, tall—tall—tall↘, so↗ tall↘.
Teach the words “so, tall” by the game: High and low voice.
(Write down the words “so, tall” and the sentences “Look at the giraffe. It’s so tall.” on the blackboard.)
T:Then look at the panda. It’s fat and short. (The teacher makes the gesture.)
(Write down the words “fat, short” and the sentence “It’s fat and short” on the blackboard.)
Teach the words “fat, short” by using the word cards. Then the teacher say and the Students follow.
T:Look at the bear. It’s so fat.
Please read after me now. So—so—so↗, fat—fat—fat↘, so↗ fat↘.
3. Watch and answer.
T: Amy, Zhang Peng and Miss White are at the zoo, too. Let’s have a look what they are talking about.
Play the video for the first time. (课件出示:教材P24 Let’s talk的视频。)
T: What are they looking at
Ss: Giraffe!
T: Is the giraffe short
Ss: No, the giraffe is tall.
T: How about the bear Is the bear tall,too?
Ss: No,the bear is short and fat.
4. Watch and underline.
(1)T: What are Zhang Peng and Amy talking about at the zoo
The teacher plays the video for the second time. Students watch it and think.
S1: Wow! It’s so tall!
T: Great. You’re so clever!
S2: Ha! It’s short and fat!
T: Well done. You’re right!
(2)Give some examples by using the words “Wow” and “Ha”.
The teacher points to the things in the classroom and says, “Wow, it’s so beautiful! Wow, it’s so big ! Ha! It’s so funny! …”
Students can have a discussion in groups for several minutes, then describe the things around them by using the words “Wow” and “Ha”,too.
5. Read and act.
(1)Students try to read after the recording and pay attention to the pronunciation and the intonation.
(2)Students practice the dialogues in groups, and then act them out in front of the class.
Step 3: Practice
1. Make a dialogue.
Show a picture of a zoo. (课件出示:一张动物园照片) Students describe what they can see by using the following sentences:

Wow!/Ha! It’s (so)…
2. Let’s find.
T: Look for the “fat” “tall” or “short” things around you. Describe them by using the following sentences.
For example:
T: Look at the tree. Wow! It’s so tall. Look at the bag. Ha! It’s so big.
3. Matching game. (出示课件)
Put some pictures of animals such as pandas, dogs, cats, bears, elephants…into Box A. Put some word cards like “fat” “short” “tall” “big” “small”…into Box B.
Students need to match the picture from Box A with the word cards from Box B. Then make the dialogue.
For example:
S1 matches “ elephant”with “big”: Look at the elephant. It is so big
If the dialogue is reasonable, they can get one score.
Step 4: Consolidation & Extension
Draw and say. (出示课件)
(1)Look at the pictures and sentences carefully. Try to understand the main ideas by yourselves.
(2)Watch the cartoon for the first time.
T: What does Chen Jie draw
Ss: Giraffe!
T: Is it short or tall
Ss: It’s tall.
T: How about the cat
Ss: It’s fat.
Now please draw your own pictures.
T: Choose one animal which you like best and try to draw it. And then show it to the class.
S1: Look at my elephant! It’s so big!
