London Eye London Eye is 135 meters high and has become one of the world’s tallest observation wheels(观景摩天轮). It has 32 capsules(密闭舱) and carries about 10,000 visitors every day. You can travel in complete safety. And you can see up to 40 kilometers away in all directions from each capsule. Tony Wheeler was born to travel. His father worked for an airline. For the first 16 years of his life, Wheeler and his family lived in many different countries.
In the early 1970s, Wheeler met a young woman named Maureen. They soon married. Before getting jobs, Tony and Maureen wanted to travel. They took a year-long trip from London, through Asia, to Australia. On the trip, they visited places like India, Iran, and Afghanistan.
When Tony and Maureen arrived in Australia, people asked many questions about their trip. To answer these questions, Wheeler wrote a guidebook called Across Asia on the Cheap. The book told people about different countries' weather, customs(风俗), and places to see. But unlike travel guides in the 1970s, Wheeler’s book also talked about places most tourists did not go. He also wrote about unusual things to see and do. The book was very popular.
Wheeler and Maureen started a company called Lonely Planet. They continued travelling. They wrote guidebooks for each place they visited. Today, 400 people work for Lonely Planet. What to do if you don't feel popular
·Try to take part in activities. Call your friends. Plan to do something. The worst feeling is staying home alone, because it makes you feel even more lonely.
·Try to make new friends. Choose friends carefully, not just because you think they're popular. And remember, making good friends takes time. Choosing a popular person to be friends with is okay, if they are nice.
·Be yourself. If you want to become friends with someone who's popular, don't make yourself into someone you are not just to impress that person.
·Be nice. Be friendly. Be outgoing (开朗的). But don’t overdo it! Talk to trusted friends if you are feeling really bad. Or you might want to write it down in a diary.
·Do something special for yourself. You could take pictures of your friends, or collect their school pictures, and take a collage (拼贴画) to hang on your wall. This will remind (提醒) you, when you are feeling unpopular, that you really do have friends.
·Think up your own ideas. These suggestions might not work for everyone.
What to do if you have a problem with your teacher
·Talk to your parents, or another adult who will listen to you and perhaps can help. Talk to your friends. Maybe they have had problems with the same teacher, too.
·Don’t give the teacher a reason to have problems with you. Do your work, complete your task, attend the class seriously and take notes. Maybe you just need to give the teacher a chance (机会).
·Try to find out what the problem is.
·Talk to the teacher if you feel comfortable doing this. Don’t be nasty (闹别扭的), but express your concerns (关心). Listen to the teacher, as well.
·Just accept the fact that you’re not going to love all your teachers.

Many of us feel uneasy when someone stands too close to us, talks to us too loudly or makes eye contact(接触) with us for too long. But have you ever wondered why those things make you uncomfortable
It’s all about personal peace, which means not only an imaginary space around the body, but also the space around all the senses. People feel that their space is being violated(侵犯) when they meet with an unwelcome sound, smell or look. This is probably why a man on a crowded bus shouting into his mobile phone or a woman next to you putting on strong perfume(香水) makes you feel angry.
Whether people have had a stronger wish to protect their personal space in recent times is hard to say. Yet studies of airlines show that people have a strong desire(渴望) to have space to themselves. In a survey by Trip Advisor, a travel website, people said that if they had to pay more for some extra service, they would rather have larger seats than extra food.
Although people may need their personal space, some hardly realize it. For example, people on a bus who hold newspapers in front of their faces to read in fact keep a distance from strangers.
Go and watch a library table. You will notice that one of the corner seats will usually be taken first, because they are the farthest way. What if someone sits opposite to you Maybe you will pile up books as if to make a wall.
Preference(偏好) for personal space are different from culture to culture. Scientists have found that Americans generally prefer more personal space than people from other cultures. In Latin(拉丁人的) cultures, however, people are more comfortable standing close to each other.
