Confucius was born in today’s Qufu in Shandong Province in 551 BC. His family was far from being well-to-do. But he was a hard-working pupil even in his childhood. When the young man was a little over twenty, he became a small official of the state. Since he was very knowledgeable and serious in work, he had become quite well-known by the time he turned thirty. Confucius had been to many of the states of the time, trying to make his political views accepted by the rulers in running their states. But they turned a deaf ear to his views and opinions. As a result, Confucius made up his mind to devote all his energies to education. When people learned about this, many of them sent their children to him to be educated. He accepted one and all and so Confucius became the first man in the history of Chinese education to start a private school.
Yan Hui, a young ma ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )n of humble origin, wanted to be accepted as Confucius’ student. But the family was so poor that they even had difficulty providing themselves with daily necessities. He was afraid he would be rejected as he could not afford the tuition. One day he came to where Confucius was giving lectures and overheard Confucius say, “I’m ready to accept anyone that can bring 10 pieces of preserved meat for tuition, whatever his origin. ”Greatly heartened by this, Yan Hui hurried back home and told his friends Zi Lu and Zi Gong about it. A few days later, all three became Confucius’ students.
Confucius was a dedi ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )cated educator, having accepted a total of 3, 000 students in his life, of whom 72 were outstanding scholars. Through educational work, Confucius succeeded in spreading his political views, which eventually became an independent school of thought and had a great impact on China for thousands of years.

Every country h ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )as its heroes. The heroes are the people the nation and especially the young people admire. If you get a list of the heroes of a nation, it will tell you the potential(潜力)of that nation.
Today in America, ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )if you ask the high school students to list their heroes, their choices would probably fall into three groups. The first group of heroes would be the rock stars—the people connected with rock music. There is no doubt that such people do have talent(才能)but one wonders if one should treat rock stars as a model. The rock stars too often are mixed with drugs and their personal life is not all that good. The rock stars are rich and wear the latest fashion styles. However, one should seek more in a hero than such things as money and good clothes.
A second type of he ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ro for the American youth is the sports star. Again you have a person who has a great ability in one area—sports. However, too often the personal life of the sports star is a bit of a disorder. Too frequently drugs and drinking are a part of life of the sports star.
A third type of hero is the TV or movie star. This person may have lots of acting talent and is quite handsome. However, the personal life of too many actors is quite sad and they should not be held up as a model of young people. Today, the rock star, the athlete and the actor all have become the models of the youth in America. Really, do you hear a young person say that his hero is a doctor, a teacher or a scientist These people are not rich and do not wear fashionable clothes. However, they are talented people who work hard to make the world a better place for everyone.
What is really ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) sad is that the young try to imitate(模仿)their heroes. They like to wear the same clothes and follow their styles. If the heroes of today for the American young people are limited only to rock stars, athletes and actors, the future does not look too bright.
60. The last sentence of the first paragraph implies that .

D. who are perfect in all areas
62. What is the write ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )r’s attitude towards American youth’s admiration

You can’t always pre ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )dict a heavy rain or remember your umbrella. But designer Mikhail Belyaev doesn’t think that forgetting to check the weather forecast before heading out should result in you getting wet. That’s why he created Lampbrella, a lamp post with its own rain-sensing umbrella.
The designer says h ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )e came up with the idea after watching people get wet on streets in Russia. “Once, I was driving on a central Saint Petersburg street and saw the street lamps lighting up people trying to hide from the rain. I thought it would be appropriate to have a canopy(伞篷)built into a street lamp. ”he said.
The Lampbrella is ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) a standard-looking street lamp fitted with an umbrella canopy. It has a built-in electric motor which can open or close the umbrella on demand. Sensors(传感器)then ensure that the umbrella offers pedestrians shelter whenever it starts raining.
In addition to t ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )he rain sensor, there’s also a 360°motion sensor on the fiberglass street lamp which detects whether anyone is using the Lampbrella. After three minutes of not being used the canopy is closed.
According to the de ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )signer, the Lampbrella would move at a relatively low speed, so as not to cause harm to the pedestrians. Besides, it would be grounded to protect from possible lightning strike. Each Lampbrella would offer enough shelter for several people. Being installed(安装)at 2 metres off the ground, it would only be a danger for the tallest of pedestrians.
While there are n ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )o plans to take the Lampbrella into production, Belyaev says he recently introduced his creation to one Moscow Department, and insists his creation could be installed on any street where a lot of people walk but there are no canopies to provide shelter.

A. To predict a heavy rain.
B. To check the weather forecast.
C. To protect people from the rain.
D. To remind people to take an umbrella.
68. Which of the following shows how the Lampbrella works
A. motor→canopy→sensors
B. sensors→motor→canopy
C. motor→sensors→canopy
D. canopy→motor→sensors
69. What does Paragraph 5 mainly tell us about the Lampbrella
A. Its moving speed. B. Its appearance.
C. Its installation. D. Its safety.
70. What can be inferred from the last paragraph
A. The designer will open a company to promote his product.

Good mornin ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )g, everyone. I’m Ralph Morrison, and I’ll be your guide today on your hike to Summit Lake. I think you’ll enjoy today’s trip, which will offer some wonderful views as well as some close-up looks at the area’s plants and animals. We’ll begin with a gentle climb in this open forest before taking a short downhill walk to the river. You’ll see unusually tall trees in that area and will cross the river on a big piece of wood. Our pass from there will go north. We’ll pass through a forest, then a large field, and cross a stream as we continue our way up to Summit Lake. The lake is small and surrounded with forest, and there’re lots of fish just waiting to be caught. We’ll stop for lunch at the lake. You’ll have an hour to relax and take photos before we start our return trip on a different path, which will take us past three small lakes before the long, steep hike back down to the river. Our last mile will be another steep uphill climb to the trail’s end, just 100 yards from where we’re about to begin.
