Analysis of Students
Students are in the first semester of Senior High school. After three years of junior high learning, they have mastered around 2,500 words, and know some basic knowledge about word formation. However, their vocabulary is no sufficient, and their knowledge in word formation is very preliminary. They know the differences in American English and British English, but most of them cannot give a full picture of the differences and may not know the reasons behind such phenomenon.

Step 1Lead-in Arouse students’ interest in vocabulary T asks students to briefly review the passage learned in last class and ask students’ opinion on vocabulary learning.T guides Ss to realize that we have rules to follow when learning English.
