课时内容:
本课时的话题是家庭事务和家庭问题,包括 Starting out和 Understanding ideas两部分。Starting out是导入部分,通过播放一段视频及展示《父与子》《音乐之声》《家有儿女》《超人总动员》的图片,以轻松、活泼的方式呈现了几种不同的家庭格局。这些家庭是学生们比较熟悉和喜欢的,能激发讨论的兴趣,展开对家庭关系、家庭成员的角色的思考,学习效果会更好。Understanding ideas部分以一个剧本的形式呈现,剧本“Like Father,Like son”的大致情节:儿子和父亲商量,他打算放弃大学,专攻乐队,却遭到强烈反对。祖父规劝他们都要冷静,并以父亲年轻时的例子相劝,最终儿子可以一边上大学,一边搞乐队,两不耽误,还为自己的未来多了一项选择。文章摘录的是台词,因此侧重口语化、交际化。
课时目标:
1.认知并灵活运用本课时的重点词汇:character, approach, chat, focus, assume, respect, studio, court, ignore, professional, talent, option, generation, gap, focus on, jump in with both feet, raise one’s voice, take one’s advice, relate to, calm down。
2.通过阅读,进一步提高解决细节理解题、推理判断题及主旨大意题的能力,提高阅读理解技能和水平。
3.通过阅读文章,理解父亲对儿子的爱护,同时也要通过学习,学会冷静处理问题,全面思考的思维品质。

1.用英语简短描述自己的家庭成员和家庭关系氛围。
2.收集英语中有关家庭的谚语、俗语。
教学过程:
Step I Starting out
1.Watch the video and ask students to answer the questions.
(1)What is the video mainly about
(2)How do you feel about the family
2.Ask students to look at the pictures of different types of families, including Father and Son, The von Trapp family. The Xia family and The Parr family.
3.Then the teacher asks the questions:
(1)What do you already know about these families Which family do you relate to most Give your reasons.
(2)What other family stories do you know
4.Students answer the questions individually and share answers with the class.
5.Ask students to think about the problems:
(1)What should we do to keep a warm family
(2)How should we get along with our family?
6.Students describe their own family in English and then give advice on how to get along well with the other family members(One can quote some sayings and proverbs bout family).
Step II Understanding ideas

2.Fast reading.
(1)Ask students to read the play and find out what conflict the son has with his father.
(2)Ask students to fill in the table according to the passage.
Like Father, Like Son

【设计意图】该部分采用了复述的形式。在快速阅读、精读的基础上,复述是语言的吸收、内化、存储、整理、表达的过程。课文复述是提高课文教学质量,增强学生语言实践的有效形式,是听说能力的重要组成部分。该活动旨在提高学生的口语表达能力,进而促进学生英语综合能力的提高;利用课文的语言材料对学生进行听说的技能训练,培养学生运用英语的能力。

5.Post-reading.
Ask students to finish Activity 3 and Activity 4 on Page 28.
(1)Activity 3是选择另一个合适的标题,采用概括归纳、提取关键词的方法。本文主要讲述父子之间在选择未来职业方面的矛盾以及最终的解决方式,让学生在阅读文章的基础上,归纳出合适的标题,可采用排除法加判断法,从而得出正确答案。
(2)Activity 4是专门针对剧本设置的练习题,根据给出的内容,判断出剧本的背景、人物以及主要情节。该题目难度不大,但巧妙之处在于在情节部分设置了空白,留给学生更多思考的余地。
Step Ⅲ Sum up
1.回顾、总结本节课的重点词汇、短语和句型。
2.让学生用简短的英语复述该剧本。
3.让学生分析、讨论:祖父、父亲和儿子三人中谁处理问题最睿智,从而引发学生对处理问题方式的思考,学会处理矛盾、化解矛盾的方法和态度。
【设计意图】该部分的设计旨在巩固学生的基础知识,以用促学。在学习知识和阅读技巧的同时,将德育教育渗透在教学中,学会正确处理和家人之间的矛盾,对未来负责,使学生终生受益。
