1.Reviewing Instruct Ss to summarise the rules of the relative adverbs in the attributive clause by discovery-based learning. T asks Ss to review the passage in Understanding ideas and find out attributive clauses introduced by relative adverbs;T asks Ss to observe carefully those attributive clauses they have found and answer the question: what do “when, where and why” refer to in each sentence.
2. Analyzing Guide students analyze each attributive clause introduced by when, where and why to help them better understand it. T asks Ss to find out the antecedent, relative adverb and clause in each sentence and translate each one of them;T asks Ss to fill in the blanks by themselves.
3.Summarizing Help students grasp the usage of relative adverbs in a systematic and complete way. T asks Ss to summarize the rules of relative adverbs;T helps Ss to improve their summary and specifically analyze the usage of each relative adverb for them;T asks Ss to review the definition of attributive clause and the usage of relative pronoun.
4.Practicing Enable Ss to apply what they have learnt. T asks Ss to read the short passage independently and get the main idea;T asks Ss to read the passage again and underline the words that where ,when, why refer to;T asks Ss to read the email independently and get the main idea;T asks Ss to complete the email with when, where and why;T asks Ss to do some exercises, help them summarize the method of choosing relatives, and asks them to do some exercises again.
