课时内容:
本课时涉及的部分是语言知识运用、了解大自然、比较不同气候带的生活,包括 Using language,Geographical features & Life in different climate zones三部分。Using language部分讲解“介词+ which/whom”引导的定语从句,让学生学会分析句子成分、找到短语搭配、选择合适的介词。Geographical features部分介绍了世界上几处不同的景观,让学生在学习语言点的同时,欣赏大自然鬼斧神工的杰作。Life in different climate zones通过对比的方式,让学生学会表达正、反观点及比较不同事物的优、缺点。
课时目标:
1.掌握并记忆本课时的重点词汇 located structure living,narrow,desert。
2.综合分析定语从句,学会“介词+ which/whom”引导的定语从句的运用,弄清介词的选择与作先行词的名词、代词的搭配或与定语从句中谓语动词的搭配有关。有时候需要兼顾先行词和定语从句中的动词。
3.通过阅读简短文章、作比较等题目锻炼学生的英语逻辑思维能力。
4.培养学生在听力练习中捕捉关键信息的能力。
5.描述自然景观,进一步了解大自然,热爱大自然,与大自然和谐共生。

2.上网查资料,查阅世界上著名的自然景观,并用简短的语言概括其特点。
教学过程:
Step I Using language
1.Find“介词+ which/whom” attributive clauses in the passage of “Longji Rice Terraces”.
2.Sum up the basic structures and features of the sentences.
Ask students to analyse the sentence structures of the Exercise 1 on Page 65.
3. Give some sentences to practice.
(1) Eric set sail once again, this time with 25 ships, ________ only 14 made it to Greenland.
(2) Biarni was the man ________ Leif discussed his plans.
First ask students to do the exercise on their own and then check answers together.

Step II Learning about nature
1. First, ask students to describe some nature wonders in English but don’t give the names. Then, ask the other students to guess the place.

3. Do the Exercises 5 & 6 on Page 66.
Step III Compare life in different climate zones
1. Read the short passage to learn about the life in the Arctic.
2. Listen to the tape about Inuit life and do the exercise 7 on Page 67.
3. Listen again and complete the table.
