Discourse Analysis
Theme: human and nature: at one with nature Text type: exposition Analysis: This text, which belongs to the genre of expository writing, introduces the Longji Rice Terraces located in Longsheng Autonomous County, Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It depicts the beautiful scenery of the Longji Rice Terraces in different seasons, tells the reasons why the local ethnic minorities built the terraces based on the local conditions, and introduces the working principle of the terraces. By studying this material, students can learn about the rational use and changing of nature by human beings, have a thorough apprehension of the harmony between local people and nature, and have a better understanding of local people's concept of environmental protection. Text structure: Paragraph one serves as the introduction to the beauty of the terraces. Paragraph two gives account of the history; Paragraph three talks about the reasons for building the terraces; Paragraph four explains the working principle of the terraces. The last paragraph concludes that the terraces are meaningful for the locals for whom traditions hold much value and future generations continue to use the ancient methods to maintain the terraces. What people learn: From this passage, students are expected to acquire a better understanding of the unit theme ––human and nature, come to realize that humans should be at one with nature and become more eco-conscious.

教学反思:
从上一节导入课起作为铺垫,引入中华文化道教天人合一观念,本课课程重点部分,即文章内容和结构部分推进较为顺畅,内容较为充实,有适当的拓展阅读,能在一定程度上引导学生对人与自然的关系进行较深层次的思考。但受限于授课形式,学生真正能吸收理解的部分有多少存疑,课堂呈现形式生动性和趣味性有待提高。
