Discourse Analysis
主题语境(Theme):Man and Nature 语篇类型(Genre):Exposition 文本分析(Discourse analysis):This exposition introduces British people’s love for gardening. The first paragraph tells us the reason why British have a special love for gardening. The second paragraph introduces different people’s activities in their gardens. The third paragraph talks about people’s solution to the problem of gardening in cities. And the last paragraph indicates the benefit of gardening though a line from Secret Garden:“Where you tend a rose…A thistle cannot grow.”Apart from the factual information, more importance should be attached to the essential meaning and significance of gardening . The understanding of the last philosophical sentence is the key. Then we can design a series of deep thinking tasks to lead students to reach the core and form the positive mindset and learn to appreciate beauty in life.
