课时内容:
本课时包括 Modals(2), Lantern Festival celebrations, A festival invitation三部分。Modals(2)讲解情态动词could, must, might的含义和用法。Lantern Festival celebrations介绍了几个不同年龄、身份的人庆祝元宵节的方式。A festival invitation主要以听、说的方式介绍节日邀请函所包含的主要内容:场合、时间、地点、节日主要饮食、应携带之物以及合适的衣着等要素。
课时目标:
1.掌握本课时的重点词汇 indicate, request, attract, decorate, competition, formal和 occasion的用法,并能在真实语境中灵活运用。
2.掌握情态动词 could,must,might的含义和用法。
3通过了解中外不同节日的特点、活动以及庆祝方式,加深对课本节选内容的理解,扩大知识面。
4.重温中国传统节日,了解其来历和纪念意义,提高自己的文化素养,增强国家认同感和文化传播意识。

1.课前查找不同地方对元宵节的庆祝,了解这些风俗的发展、变化,并能用简短英语描述。
2查找含有情态动词 could,must,might的句子,体会其用法。
3预习课本内容,找出该部分的新词汇,并根据上下文猜测其含义。
教学过程:
Step I Modals (2)
1.Do Activity 1 on Page 17 of the textbook.
2.(1)Give enough examples of the usages of the following modal verbs.
could
must
might
(2)Guide students to sum up the usages of the modal verbs.
(3)Then ask students to give more examples that they searched.
3.Finish Activity 2 & 3 on Page 17.
(1)Replace the underlined sentences with can/could, may/might and must.
(2)Look at the picture and make as many sentences as possible using can/could,may/might and must .
Step II Lantern Festival celebrations
1.Look at the pictures on Page 18, and find the celebrations of Lantern Festival.
2.Ask students to read the statements of each others celebrating ways and underline the key words.
3.Read the statements again and complete the mind map of Activity 4.
4.Do Activity 5 on Page 18.
Describe a festival celebration using the given words and expressions.
Step III A festival invitation
1.Read “Did You Know ” and learn about a festival invitation.
2.Do Activity 68.7 on Page 19.
(1)Listen to the conversation and complete the sentences with the correct ending.
(2)Listen to the conversation again and complete the notes on Page 19.
3.Do Activity 8&9 on Page 19.
(1)Act out the conversation about extending and accepting an invitation.
(2)Think about a similar situation and have a conversation.
【设计意图】该部分基本按照课本设置顺序来完成,由浅入深,逐层加深难度,锻炼了学生读、听、写、说的能力。通过“Did You know?”部分,了解关于邀请的内容和注意事项;然后通过两次听录音,解决浅层理解,记录听力的要点,完成 Activity7;最后是语言输出的环节,学生仿照上述内容,作对话练习,从而对节日的邀请有一个清晰的轮廓,掌握基本句式和常见词汇。整个环节内容不多,但环环相扣,遵循了语言的认知规律,设置科学、合理,加深了学生对单元内容的理解,提高了学生语言运用能力。
Step IV Sum up
总结情态动词 could, must, might的含义和用法,以及学习如何发出与接受邀请。
Step V Homework
1.Give students some examples to fill in the blanks with proper modal verbs.
2.Master the usages of the new vocabulary.
