整体设计思路 本单元主题是“人与社会”, 学生以主题意义探究为目的,以语篇为载体,在理解和表达的语言实践活动中,融合知识学习和技能发展,通过感知、预测、获取、分析、概括、迁移等思维活动,构建结构化知识,发展思维品质,形成文化理解,最终促成学生语言能力、文化意识、思维品质和学习能力的综合提升,促进英语学科核心素养的形成和发展。 整堂课问题分层次设计,由浅入深,在明确文章体裁和结构之后,充分挖掘教材内容,逐步引导学生在理解课文表面意义的基础之上进行深入思考,了解中外节日的意义和内涵以及增进对父母的感恩。同时也设计小组讨论,同伴分享等环节给予学生充分的时间对教材知识进行整合、重组、迁移和表达,体现了新课程改革强调的充分发挥学生主体地位。

Step 1 Warming up (5 mins) Play a Christmas vocabulary word guessing game. Watch the pictures and guess words related to Christmas. 以猜词游戏的形式介绍有关圣诞节的表达,调动学生积极性。
Step 2 Pre-reading Prediction (5 mins) Show a picture of the textbook on page 15. Let students find some detail information to predict the passage. Pay attention to the illustration and other detail information to have a prediction. 让学生自主挖掘细节信息并预测文章内容,培养学生关注细节和推测判断能力。
Step 2 While-reading (28 mins) Fast-reading Match the main idea of each paragraph. Read the passage quickly to get the main idea of each paragraph. 训练学生的阅读技能,并通过阅读使学生意识到节日的真正意义以及Tolkien对孩子的爱。
Detail-reading Read the passage more carefully and complete the chart on the learning sheet. Search for the detail information. Discuss in groups to complete the chart.
Further-reading Find evidence that shows Tolkien’s care and love for his children. Work together to explore the evidence.
