课时内容:
本课时的话题是影视、戏剧的介绍,包括 Starting out和 Understanding ideas两部分。Starting out是导入部分通过观察图片和观看视频,让学生了解舞台和影视上的不同娱乐形式,包括芭蕾舞、演唱会、川剧变脸、戛纳春节舞狮表演、话剧《等待戈多》、相声表演等,并谈论不同的娱乐形式及其异同点以及谈论自己喜爱的娱乐形式。通过该部分的热身活动,让学生了解中外常见的采用诙谐幽默的风格,娱乐形式,走进本单元话题。Understanding ideas部分讲述了一名以英语为母语的高中生第一次观看京剧版《哈姆雷特》的经历。课文以一个外国高中生的视角,从京剧的历史、乐曲、舞台特点等角度,阐述京剧的特点以及自己的观剧感受。
课时目标:
1.认知并灵活运用本课时的重点词汇 revenge, transform, incredible, energetic, emotion, anger, grief, combine以及短语 get across, on the edge of one’s seat。
2.通过速度、精读等方式,引导学生由浅入深,逐层推进,加深对文章的理解,并掌握不同的阅读技巧和方法。
3.通过阅读文章,了解京剧的历史、乐曲、舞台特点,进一步热爱这种艺术。

教学过程:
Step I Starting out
1.Guide students to look at the pictures on Page 37 and ask them to speak out the types of entertainment.
2.Watch the video prepared in advance, and answer the questions.
(1)Which of these types of entertainment are you most familiar with
(2)What other types of entertainment have you seen
3.Ask students to talk about their favourite types of entertainment and tell the reasons in groups.
Record what they discussed in the form.

Step II Reading
1.Pre-reading
(1)Look at the pictures on Page 38-39 and learn about Peking Opera.
(2)Look at the title of the passage and talk about your understanding of it.
2.Fast reading
Read the passage and find out what aspects of Peking Opera most impressed the author.
