Step 1. Leading in
Animals are our friends, show the students some pictures about the cute animals, at
the same time we talk about the following questions:
1. Do you have a pet What is its name
2. If not, would you like to have a pet
3. What kind of pet would you like Why
4. What would you name it
Then show them a picture of Zoe --- a cat. We talk about it together.
Designing purpose: Arouse the students’ interest and curiosity about the topic of
plants by showing them the pictures, and it can be smoothly shifted to the new topic.

Step 2. Listening
Listen to the story and answer the following questions.

Designing purpose: This part is aimed at developing students’ ability to catch the key information while listening, and understand the main idea of this story.
Step 3. Reading
1. Read the dialogue quickly and find out the answers to these questions.

2. Read the dialogue carefully again and fill in the blanks.
One day, Danny _______ all the way to Jenny’s house. He ______ the doorbell, and Jenny welcomed him. Danny asked Jenny and Brain to go to the _____ on Saturday. Jenny thought it was a good idea. Suddenly, Danny screamed! He told Jenny he saw a ______ tiger jump off the _____. But this was not a tiger, this was Jenny’s friend --- Zoe, she was a cat. Zoe liked to eat _____, she was _____ and ______. Danny wanted to have a dog, because dogs were _____ and ______.
Designing purpose: In order to train students’ reading skills and make them learn about the main contents of this passage, I designed this part.

1. After reading this story, can you describe Zoe in your own words

What does it look like She has small ears, black eyes and brown fur.
Do you want to have a pet If you have a pet, what is it
OK, you can interview your group members about their pets. Then make a dialogue.
Here are some questions you can ask your group members:
*Do you have a pet (If yes, what is it If no, what pet would you like to have )*What kind of animal is your pet *What is its name *What does it look like *What does it like/dislike doing *What does it like to eat *How do you look after it
2. Presentation: ask some students to show the dialogue in front of the class.
Designing purpose: The best way to learn English is to use it. Students are encouraged to show themselves in front of the class. They can master what they have learned. At the same time they can overcome their shyness. To make the class more lively and interesting.
Activity 2 --- Guess my pet
1. Introduce your pet to your friends. You can talk about anything about it except what kind of animal it is. Let others guess.
2. Presentation: some volunteers read their compositions and let the others guess what pet it is.
Designing purpose: this part is to develop the students’ ability of speaking, and the guessing game will be interesting, students can take an active part in it.
Step 5. Summary
Ask students to summarize what they have learned in this class.
Designing purpose: This part is to summarize what we have learned in this lesson. Let the students know what they should remember and they will know animals are our friends, we should protect them.
Step 6. Homework --- writing
Correct the mistakes in their compositions.
V. Blackboard design
I think blackboard design should draw the students’ attention easily. Besides, it can
also make the students master the key points of this lesson quickly. In order to
show the main ideas, I designed a mind map. I think the students will like it and
take notes easily.

VI. Teaching reflection
In this lesson I mainly used the following teaching methods: Task-based teaching
method and situational teaching method. In every step I try my best to create
different situations to make students practice more. Students can participate in the
Activities with high passion, I think such class is lively and interesting. So that the
students can develop their skills of reading, speaking and listening.
