课时内容:
本课时包括Starting out和Understanding ideas两部分,话题是环境遭到破坏、野生动物濒危。Starting out是导入部分,通过观看一则环保主题公益广告的视频及四幅环保主题的漫画——海水垃圾、砍伐树木、工厂废气排放、全球变暖,将学生导入“环境破坏和恶化”的话题,能快速、直观地唤起学生的环保意识,增强保护环境的决心。Understanding ideas部分以电影《大白鲨》导入主题,陈述人们对大白鲨的印象,从而引出鲨鱼的真实本性、对人类地杀伤力以及现在的处境,让人们理性分析、认识问题,摒弃片面的认识,更全面地了解鲨鱼地生存状况。
课时目标:
1.认知并灵活运用本课时的重点词汇scare, dive, target, fortunately, extinction, attitude, in fear, due to, by mistake等。
2.通过速读、精读等方式,引导学生由浅入深,逐层推进,加深对文章的理解,并掌握不同的阅读技巧和方法。
3.通过阅读短文,了解外表凶猛、令人恐怖的鲨鱼的真是习性和处境,让学生全面地看待问题,从自我做起,保护野生动物,保护环境。

1.在网上搜索了解野生动物的栖息地、生存现状以及切实可行的保护措施。
2.预习Starting out和Understanding ideas两部分内容,通过查字典等方式提前解决词汇问题。

Step I Starting out
1. Watch the video and answer the questions.
(1) Which of the facts in the video do you find most alarming.
(2) What does the video want to tell us.
2. Look at the cartoons and answer the questions.
(1) What environmental problem does each cartoon refer to
(2) What are the causes of these problems
(3) What should be done to help solve the environmental problems
【设计意图】通过观看公益广告的视频和环保主题的漫画,导入话题,给学生以直观的印象,促使学生了解地球面临的一些环境问题,进而去分析产生这些问题的原因。
Step II Reading
1.Pre-reading
Do Activity 1 on Page 62.

2.Fast reading
Do Activity 2 on Page 62.
Read the passage and find out how sharks are described in the film jaws.

Step III Sum up
1.总结本节课的重点词汇 scare, dive, target, fortunately, extinction, attitude, in fear, due to, by mistake和句型,采用表格、思维导图等形式更清晰地了解它们的用法,形成知识脉络。
2.让学生利用关键词提示的方式,用简短的英语概括文章主要内容。
3.通过本课的学习,让学生清晰地认识鲨鱼的生存状况,从而唤起他们的环保意识,增强环保的迫切感和责任感,为保护环境、保护野生动物、保护大自然出一份力。
