We use the present continuous tense to show that something is happening now.
The present continuous tense
The children are playing in the park.
We also use the present continuous tense to talk about temporary situations.
We are staying at Peter’s house at the moment.

We form the present continuous tense like this:
Subject Verb to be Main verb
I am (not) dreaming.
You/We/They are (not)
He/She/It is (not)
We form Yes/No questions and short answers in the present continuous tense like this:
Am I reading Yes, I am.
No, I am not/’m not.
Are you/we/they reading Yes, you/we/they are.
No, you/we/they are not/aren’t/’re not.
Is he/she/it reading Yes, he/she/it is.
No, he/she/it is not/isn’t/’s not.
We form Wh- questions in the present continuous tense like this:
What are you doing now
Why is he sleeping here
We form the present continuous tense with the verb to be + (the base form/the –ing form) of the main verb.
Work out the rule
We form the- questions form of the main verb like this:
Main verb -ing form Example
Most verbs + ing Feel feeling
Verbs ending in –e e + ing Write writing
Verbs ending in –ie ie + ying Die dying
Some verbs ending in a vowel letter + a consonant letter double the consonant letter + ing Run running
1. 现在进行时的定义
( The present continuous tense)
①现在进行时态表示现在(说话瞬间)正在进行 或发生的动作。如：
The students are listening to the teacher.
He is watching TV now.
②现在进行时态还可以表示当前一段时间内的 活动或现阶段正在发生的事情。如:
We are working on a farm these days.
I am writing a book this month.
3. 现在进行时的句式
肯定句: 主语+am/is/are+V-ing +其它.
如: I am reading a book in the library.
2. 否定句：直接在am/is/are后加not
如：I am writing. I am not writing.
3. 一般疑问句及回答: 问句,直接把am/is/are提句首, 若原句有第一人称，把第一人称变成第二人称。

be + 现在分词(V-ing)
肯定回答:
Yes, 主语 + be (be是要变化的，即am/is/are).
否定回答:
No, 主语+ be + not.
You are drawing a pig.(变一般疑问句，再作肯定回答和否定回答）
---Are you drawing a pig
---Yes, I am. / No, I’m not.
特殊疑问句：
对be + V-ing 提问要用what.
格式为：What + am / is / are +主语+doing
