课时内容:
本课时包括 Starting out和 Understanding ideas两部分。
Starting out是导入部分,首先通过观察图片中人物的行为,推测他们是什么类型的人。然后让学生观看视频,了解三段对话的共同点,并思考自己是否有过类似的经历及在类似的情形下,自己会如何应对。该部分通过两个练习活动,将学生迅速带入真实的人际交往的场景,为后面的学习做好准备。
Understanding ideas部分介绍了十七岁的少年Ben成长中的烦恼。Ben将自己对球队一名队员的不满说给朋友,朋友却传给了其他人,令Ben很难堪,不知所措,因此他给知心阿姨写信求助。知心阿姨耐心地分析了问题,并提出了建议,为Ben解疑释惑。通过Ben生活中的困扰,以及知心阿姨的解答,让学生进一步了解人际交往中应该注意的事项,并且学会如何处理类似问题,领会交往原则,学会用正确的方式理性地处理生活中的问题,通过积极主动的交流和沟通,建立良好的人际关系。
课时目标:
1.认知并灵活运用本课时的重点单词 steam,loose sink,fault,resolve,strategy,signal,breath,concern 以及短语 help out,let down,let off steam,take a breath,pull one’s weight,loose lips sink ships。
2.通过速读、精读等方式,引导学生由浅入深,逐层推进,加深对文章的理解,并掌握不同的阅读技巧和方法。通过对所设置题目的解答,让学生学会根据关键词提取重要信息,理清文章线索,并学会深层次分析问题,进行语言加工,提高归纳概括和推理判断的能力。
3.通过阅读文章,了解人际交往中的原则,学会通过交流、沟通,建立良好的人际关系。

1.在网上搜索和了解人际交往中需要注意的事项,了解人际交往对人们的影响,领会人际交往的重要性。
2.思考在人际交往中应该注意什么,怎样才能建立良好的、健康的、和谐的人际关系。
3.预习 Starting out和 Understanding ideas两部分的内容,通过查字典等方式提前解决词汇问题。
教学过程:
Step I Starting out
1.The teacher guides students to look at the picture on Page 1 and asks them to answer the questions.
(1)What is each person in the picture doing?
(2)What kind of person might they be?
2.Play the video prepared in advance,and ask the questions.
(1)What do the three conversations have in common?
(2)What would you do in similar situations?
3.Ask students to discuss the questions above and give their answers.
Step II Reading
1.Pre-reading.
Do Activity 1 on Page 2 and answer the questions.
(1)Which do you think is the most difficult to overcome and why?
(2)Who will you turn to for help when face a problem?
2.Fast reading.
Read the passage quickly and answer the following questions.
(1)What problems did Ben have?
(2)What did Ben think of the point guard?Why?
(3)Why did Ben complain about it to his friend?
(4)What did his friend do?
(5)How did Ben feel about his friend?
(6)What’s Agony Aunt’s advice?

(1)Activity3让学生选出文章的主旨大意,主要考查学生的归纳、概括能力。点拨学生要根据文章的关键词,确定具体角度,从而选出最佳答案。

Step III Reading

2.用简短的英语陈述少年Ben的困扰以及知心阿姨的建议,让学生进一步锻炼归纳、概括的能力。
3.通过知心阿姨解答少年Ben的困扰以及给出的建议,告诉学生相处之道,并学会如何表达自己的情绪、控制自己的愤怒,冷静、理智地处理问题。
