Language points

as soon as 意为“一……就”,引导时间状语从句,其后省略了引导词that,相当于the moment 或 the minute。as soon as=the moment=the minute=the second= the instant= immediately= directly=instantly。(在含有as soon as引导的时间状语从句的主从复合句中,主句用一般将来时,从句则用一般现在时表将来)
eg:Please call me up the minute you get there.请你一到那儿就给我打电话。
He got married as soon as he graduated. 他一毕业就结婚了。

throw作动词,其过去式和过去分词分别为threw和thrown。常用短语有:throw away/out 扔掉;throw at 向……扔去;throw down 扔下;throw to 扔给……
eg:You should throw away/out those old newspapers.

Arriving home, she threw down her bag and lay on the sofa.
3. I'm just as tired as you are! (教材P19 3a)
as……as……意为“与……一样 ”,用于同级比较。第一个as为副词,后接形容词或副词原级;第二个as为连词,引导比较状语从句。as……as……的否定形式为not as/so……as……,意为“不如……”。
eg:Tom is as tall as his brother. 汤姆和他的哥哥一样高。
My hair is as long as yours. 我的头发与你的头发一样长。
His bedroom is not so/as big as his sister's. 他的房间不如他姐姐的大。
Lucy doesn't dress so/as lovely as Lily. 露西穿得不像莉莉那么可爱。
4. For one week, she did not do any housework and neither did I. (教材P19 3a)
“neither/nor +连系动词be/助动词/情态动词+主语”为主谓倒装结构,表示主语和前面所陈述的情况有着相同的否定概念。表示“……也不”。neither此处用作副词,意为“也不”。
eg:I have never been to Macao, neither has my husband.
我从没去过澳门,我丈夫也没去过。
It you don't stop to rest, nor will they. 如果你不停下来休息,他们也不会。
【拓展】 “so +连系动词be/助动词/情态动词+主语”为主谓倒装结构,表示主语和前面所陈述的情况有着相同的肯定概念。其中so代替上文中的动作或状态,表示“也是这样”、“也是如此”
eg:—Jack was in Beijing last winter. 杰克去年冬天在北京。
—Really So was I. (=I was also in Beijing last winter. ) 真的吗?我也是。
If you go to the seaside for your holiday, so shall I. 如果你去海边度假,我也去。
eg:Neither of them has/have a car.
(2)用于“neither... nor ...”结构,意为“既不……也不……”,连接两个并列成分作主语时,谓语动词的数要与邻近的主语保持一致。
eg:Neither I nor he knows Linda.
(3)作限定词,意为“两者都不”,常置于单数可数名词前,其对应词为both。“neither+单数可数名词”作主语时,谓语动词要用单数形式。
eg:Neither sentence is correct.
【拓展延伸】neither的其他用法:
(1)作代词,意为“两者都不”。neither of 结构作主语时,谓语动词用单复数形式均可。
5. “What happened ” She asked in surprise. (教材P19 3a)
in surprise意为“惊讶地;吃惊地”,常用于动词之后作方式状语,相当于with surprise。其中surprise作名词,意为“惊奇”,含surprise的常用短语还有:to one's surprise “令某人惊讶的是”。
eg:Simpson looked at them in/with surprise.
To my surprise, the man who helped me clean the yard is our headmaster.
