Unit 3 Starting out & Understanding ideas 名师教学设计
课时内容：
本课时的话题是科幻电影片段以及采访作家Richard Fairhurst及他的作品《新发明时代》，包括Starting out和Understanding ideas两部分。
Starting out是导入部分，通过观察图片和观看视频，了解四个科幻电影的片段：（1）《哈利·波特与魔法石》中哈利·波特的神奇披风，类似于一种隐身衣；（2）《时光机器》，轻轻一按时光机的操作杆就能完成时光穿梭，让我们想到很多穿越故事；（3）《机器停转》中通过蓝光圆盘能直接和远方的亲人交流，真正意义上的无障碍远程交流；（4）在《2889年》中，传统的印刷品变成了趣味十足的音频和视频。通过这些片段，引导学生思考未来科学发展的前景。在此基础上，引导学生思考归纳，完成相应的练习题。
Understanding ideas部分是关于作家Richard Fairhurst的访谈节目，通过采访的形式介绍其新作 The New Age of Invention，及其对历史上发明的黄金时代的认知以及新时代的发明，如：3D打印和GPS定位系统；Richard在节目中也探讨了发明动机等一系列我们所关心的问题。通过这篇文章，进一步了解新时代的新发明以及这些发明给我们的生活带来的翻天覆地的变化，引导学生善于思考与探索，做个生活中的有心人，学习真正的发明精神。

2.通过速读、精读等方式，引导学生由浅入深，逐层推进，加深对文章的
理解，掌握不同的阅读技巧和方法。
3.通过阅读文章，了解作家 Richard Fairhurst以及他的作品《新发明时代》，
引导学生展开联想，思考古今重大发明，了解更多关于发明家的故事，学习他们的优秀品质。

Step I Leading in
1.The teacher guides the students to look at the pictures on Page 25 of the textbook and asks them to speak out the four films.
2.Play the video prepared in advance，and ask the questions：
（1）Which of the inventions in the video interests you most？
（2）Which of the inventions in the video do you think will become a reality？
3.Work in groups.
Ask students to talk about the four films, and record what they discussed in the form.

Step II Reading
1.Pre-reading.
(1) Ask students to look at the pictures on Page 26 and talk about how the way we live has changed over time.
(2) Ask students to look at the title of the passage and talk about their understanding of the title.
2.Fast reading.
Read the passage quickly and answer the questions below.
（1）What does Richard think of the interviewer’s first question
（2）How does Richard feel about our age of invention？
（3）What’s the common feature of most of the new great inventions？
（4）What examples does Richard give when asked？
（5）What does Richard think inspires us to invent？
【设计意图】该部分用简答题的形式将课文主要内容展示出来，有助于学生理清文章脉络，掌握文章的主要内容，锻炼学生的概括归纳能力和语言表达能力。因为有原文提示，难度不大，因此将该题设置在了速读部分。
3.Careful reading.
（1）Read the passage again and retell it.
【设计意图】通过设置该题，进一步归纳、概括文章，理清文章脉络，有助于加深学生对文章的理解。同时，在读懂语篇的基础上，将英语语法、句法和词汇的知识融合在一起，更科学地反应学生的口头表达能力和英语综合程度。
