Read the short introduction to Jules Verne and answer the questions. (P56)
Jules Verne (1828–1905) was a French writer best known for his adventure stories. Often called the “Father of Science Fiction”, Verne described in his stories technology and inventions years before they became realities. Verne’s most famous books are Journey to the
Centre of the Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870) and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).

Beyond that the colours darkened into fine shades of deep blue, and gradually disappeared. Truly this water which surrounded me was but another air heavier than the Earth’s atmosphere, but almost as clear.
In the places farther than the distance of a hundred and fifty yards, the colours were darker and became deep blue, and then slowly disappeared. I surely felt that the water around me was just like air. It was thicker than the Earth’s atmosphere but it had got the same clearness.
