This clown works in a hospital or other health care facilities. His job is to comfort, entertain and cheer up patients, their families as well as the hospital staff in order to remove their nervousness and make them feel better.
Clown doctors are professional clowns working in hospitals with sick children.
They use humour, music, storytelling and magic shows to keep patients entertained. Most importantly, they keep patients laughing and laughter helps to reduce pain and stress levels, and to boost the immune system. Humour also helps to promote a positive outlook and helps people to make friends with each other, both of which are important factors in healing and fighting disease.
Clown doctors are more familiar in the West. The first clown doctor, Patch Adams, worked in the US in the 1970s.
