课时内容:
本课时包括 Starting out和 Understanding ideas两部分。
Starting out是导入部分,包括阅读杂志页回答问题和观看视频回答问题两个环节。通过观察杂志中提到的现如今罕见的三种动物,将学生的思维拉到关于动物的思考,贴近单元话题。通过观看视频,了解不同植物种子的传播途径,进一步了解神奇的大自然。
Understanding ideas部分讲述了英国地质学家和博物学家达尔文的发现之旅。达尔文乘坐贝格尔号进行了历时5年的环球航行,对动植物和地质结构等进行了大量的观察和采集。1859年,达尔文出版了《物种起源》,提出了生物进化论学说。除了生物学外,达尔文的理论对人类学、心理学、哲学的发展都有不容忽视的影响。
课时目标:
1.认知并灵活运用本课时的重点单词 distant、disgrace、evolve、suspect、evolution、generate和短语answer the call,be a disgrace、date back to、of all time、be fascinated by、be crowded with、come to exist、be similar to、adapt to、a variety of、according to、evolve into、be regarded as等

2.了解达尔文的生平事迹及其所取得的成就。
3.预习 Starting out和 Understanding ideas两部分的内容,通过查字典等方式提前解决词汇问题。

Step I Starting out
1. Look at the page from a science magazine and answer the questions.

Share your knowledge with the class.
2. Watch the video and answer the questions.
