How similar are language and music
Language is part of our daily lives, no matter where we live in the world. ____1____ Both language and music play a huge role in our culture and here are some of their similarities.
Both language and music have a writing system.
In English we record language using the alphabet, which is a collection of letters. Similarly, we use notes to keep a record of music. Musicians read notes and create meaning in the form of music. ____2____ By writing pieces of text or music, we are able to share experiences through time. We can read the ideas or hear the composition of someone who lived hundreds of years ago.
____3____
You can make a good guess at where someone is from by listening to the language he uses. In the same way, we know that styles of music are different around the world, giving us the opportunity to explore many different cultures through their music and providing us with music for every situation.
Both share emotion.
____4____ Of course you may be able to see it in my face, but you will know for sure through my words. Similarly, music can sound angry, sad or happy. Music can show you exactly how the composer was or is feeling, and allows us to share that emotion. When you feel happy, you might want to sing and dance to a happy song to celebrate your happiness. ____5____ I think we have all used music to express or process our emotions, often combining it with language in the form of song lyrics.

Most of the time people use the word snowbird in reference to retirees that travel to a southern state during the winter months. However, snowbirding is certainly not limited to retirees. ____7____ A large population of snowbirds usually choose California, Arizona, Florida and Texas, which have their mild weather during the winter.
____8____ Some people like to travel in their RV(recreational vehicle), others have a second home in a location of their choosing. The second home provides all that a house can offer, but it doesn’t allow the freedom to explore. RV travelers, however, can get to wherever they want. In an RV, snowbirds can choose to set up a moveable residence in one spot. They can also explore a wide variety of places.____9____.
For those people that have the ability to leave their homes for a few months during the winter to explore the southern areas, there are many benefits to have. ____10____.By snowbirding, they can also escape the cold. While this may seem purely for comfort, it can be for health and safety reasons as well.

During winter, when it is cold and freezing outside, all we want to do is stay wrapped up in our blankets and remain in bed. ____31____ During times like these, one might envy animals like bears, who doze through the coldest season and wake up fresh in the spring. But how do they go without food for such a long time
____32____ Because of terrible weather and shortages of food, certain animals hibernate (冬眠) to save energy and survive. Hibernation involves a significant slowdown of the metabolism (新陈代谢) and a drop in body temperature. Reducing their metabolism allows these animals to conserve energy during those long cold months.
To understand the need for hibernation, we first must understand the difference between endothermic and ectothermic organisms. Ectotherms are those animals whose body temperatures depend on the surrounding temperature. ____33____ Usually, they have a body temperature that changes with the temperature of their environment. They depend on things like sunlight or the surface of heated rocks to warm up. ____34____ They are also known as “cold-blooded” animals, which include fish, amphibians, and reptiles.
On the contrary, endotherms can regulate their own body temperature by generating internal heat. They are capable of maintaining their physiological body temperature in a stable range, regardless of the changes in the environment. Endotherms adjust their metabolic heat production and insulation to stay warm, whereas during hot weather, they sweat to cool down. Endotherms are capable of maintaining a steady temperature as compared to their changing surroundings. They are called “warm-blooded” animals, and include mammals and birds. ____35____
A.Conversely, they seek shade to cool down.
B.A cup of noodles or hot chocolate also helps.

It didn’t take him long to adjust to a disconnected life. By the end of that first week, he was less stressed about not knowing new things. ____42____ He enjoyed food without Twittering the experience. But the end came too soon. After the twenty-five days. he had to restore his online presence.
His experiment summarizes two important points about our relationship with social networks like Facebook and Twitter. The first point is that we increasingly recognize that these tools fragment (碎裂) our time and reduce our ability to concentrate. ____43____ But the problem is especially serious if you’re attempting to improve your ability to work deeply.
To fight back against these distractions, Thurston felt his only option was to quit the Internet altogether. But the problem is that no one is meant to actually follow Thurston’s lead. ____44____ That is to accept our current distracted state as unavoidable. This brings me to the second point summarized by Thurston’s story: it didn’t take him long once the experiment ended to slide back into the fragmented
state where he began.
This rule proposes a third option: accepting that these tools might be vital to your success and happiness, but meanwhile accepting that most people should be using fewer such tools. I won’t ask you, in other words, to quit the Internet altogether like Thurston did. ____45____ There is a middle ground, and if you’re to develop a deep work habit, you must fight to get there.

Research what your pet can and cannot bear.
Just like you, your dog, cat or rabbit will appreciate a nice spot where he can sit or take a break on a hot day. Finding shade for an animal is vital (imagine spending summer in a fur coat without a break), so provide areas where they can rest and avoid the burning sun. ____49____

Music influences your emotions. In turn, your emotions influence your behavior. One of these is your food intake. ____101____ What does science say about this subject
Researchers at the University of Arkansas studied how music influences people when they eat in a restaurant. For the study, they used four types of music: jazz, classical, rock, and hip-hop. Their results showed that people had more appetite when they listened to jazz music while they ate. ____102____ This has a lot to do with emotions. For instance, when you listen to music with harmonic rhythms like jazz, you feel happier. This increases your appetite.
However, another study published in Psychological Reports suggests it isn’t only increased appetite that causes people to eat more. ____103____ A more stimuli-filled environment makes you eat more. In fact, they tend to urge you on to eat and even “encourage” you to eat faster. On the other hand, if the atmosphere in the restaurant is relaxed, you’re likely to feel more relaxed and spend more time enjoying yourself. For this reason, you’ll tend to eat less.
Besides, the study conducted by the Journal of the Academy suggests that the volume of music can also have an effect on how you eat. More specifically, the study states that, with low-volume music, you eat better because you make healthier choices. On the other hand, the study claims that music at high volume increases stimulation and stress. ____104____
For this reason, restaurants should consider the fact when thinking about the optimization of their products and services. ____105____ They equip themselves with the technology needed to provide memorable experiences through music, greatly strengthening their relationship with the customer.
