课时内容:
本课时包括 Starting out和 Understanding ideas两部分。
Starting out是导入部分,包括观看视频回答问题和听、读诗歌回答问题两个环节。通过问答部分将学生的思路引入不同时期、不同文化背景下的成人礼庆祝方式以及印象最深刻的成人礼的话题,紧扣单元话题。诗歌If以一位慈父的口吻,假设人生中可能遇到的境遇,鼓励、劝诫儿子该怎样面对,不失为一部伟大的心灵鸡汤。通过听、读和回答问题,让学生了解成长中最重要的品质是什么通过练习活动,将学生迅速带入成长的话题,为后面的学习热身,做好准备。
Understanding ideas部分是三个不同国家的年轻人的自述,阐释自己对18岁的理解以及与现实社会的碰撞和交融。通过该文章的学习,让学生理解18岁意味着成长,成长意味着冲破束缚和樊笼,但同时也意味着责任和担当。
课时目标:
1. 认知并灵活运用本课时的重点单词Integrity、virtue、licence、loan、election、legal、mature、instantly、obey、gradual、approve、steady.、commitment、suitable、minimum以及短语 have a say,behind the wheel,make impression on、neither.,nor ,in charge of、take responsibility for、instead of、contribute to等。
2. 通过速读、精读等方式,引导学生由浅入深、逐层推进,加深对文章的理解,并掌握不同的阅读技巧和方法。通过对所设题目的解答,让学生学会根据关键词提取重要信息,理清文章线索,并学会深层次分析问题,进行语言加工,提高归纳概括、推理判断的能力。
3. 通过阅读文章,了解18岁的憧憬与现实的差距,懂得担当和责任。

1. 在网上搜索相关信息,了解不同国家的成人礼以及成年后的权利和责任,从不同侧面了解成长的真正含义。
2. 思考即将迈入成年人世界的自己,面临哪些改变该怎样面对。怎样让自己的人生过得更精彩、更有意义。
3. 预习 Starting out和 Understanding ideas两部分的内容,通过查字典等方式提前解决词汇问题

Watch the video and answer the questions.

Discuss at what age you are allowed to do the following things in China.

Suggested answers: We are allowed to get a full-time job and rent an apartment at 16. Getting a credit card, getting a driver's licence, getting the right to vote, and getting a bank loan are allowed at 18 in China.
【设计意图】通过该活动,帮助学生明确在中国做不同事情的法定年龄,激活学生对法定年龄的已有知识,为课学习做铺垫。

Step Ⅲ Summing up
1. 总结本节课的重点单词 virtue、licence、election legal、instantly.、obey、gradual、approve、steady、commitment、suitable、minimum以及短语 have a say,behind the wheel、in charge of、take responsibility for、instead of、contribute to和句型,通过不同形式的活动了解它们的用法,形成知识脉络。
2. 让学生用简短的英语陈述三个青少年对18岁的理解以及现实感受,进一步锻炼学生概括、归纳的能力。
3. 通过描述三个青少年对18岁的理解和定位,引导学生理解成年人的世界不仅是自由和权利,更有义务和责任,要做一个有责任感、有担当的年轻人。
