Vocabulary
Read the passage and conclude what attitude each person has towards their looks.
Jade:
Anthony:
Emma:
Jade is too obsessed with selfie apps, editing and posting selfies for hours every day, which shows that she craves others’ attention to make up for her lack of confidence towards her look.
Although Anthony used to not care about his appearance, his attitude changed after a makeover experience. He realised that there is value in making an effort with the way you present yourself.
Emma had always been ashamed of being larger than other girls, until she came to realise that mental and physical health is more beautiful and important than being skinny and unhealthy, and that confidence itself is attractive.
Do you agree that “It's a pretty person's world” Why
Opinion A:
In a sense I agree.
In today's society, there are countless people who get convenience everywhere because of their good appearances, and there are also countless people who run into difficulties because of their bad appearances. Therefore, people tend to choose good looks when choosing a partner or employee. In a sense, this is a pretty person's world.
Opinion B:
In a sense I disagree.
There are many things in the world more important than good looks, such as heath, personality and ability. This is like a big tree, the ability and personality are the root which is hidden underground, and the good looks are branches and leaves which can be seen at the first glimpse. as time goes by, you will find the root-ability is more important.
