教学过程:
Step I Preparation and lead-in
1. 学生两人一组讨论他们喜欢的节日或特殊场合教师利用线索帮助他们。
Present several celebration pictures to students and make them get familiar with the key words: occasion, graduation, congratulation, decorate and so on.
2. Ask students to answer the questions:
(1) Do you like Mid-Autumn Festival
(2) What do you do during Mid-Autumn Festival
(3) What do you usually eat on Mid-Autumn Festival
【设计意图】通过问答练习,引入本单元话题,激发学生兴趣,自然而然进入新的教学之中。同时,在语境中呈现单词,帮助学生理解、记忆生词,为听力活动做好准备。
Step II Listening
1. Ask students to look at the three pictures on Page 50 and predict what they will hear in the following dialogue.
2. Play the audio of Dialogue 1 for students and check their predictions. Then ask students to finish the following tasks.
Task 1
Complete the Text Builder on Page 50.
Suggested answers: Mid-Autumn Festival on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month having a family dinner and eating moon cakes; chatting and enjoying the moon
Task 2:
Ask students to use the Text Builder to write 3~5 sentences about their favourite festivals or occasions. Then read aloud to other students.
Example:
I love celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival. It is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. We usually celebrate it by having a family dinner and ...
3. Ask students to listen to Dialogue 2 and answer the questions.
(1) What are Jenny's friends going to do for her Why
(2) What are they going to make and give Jenny at the party
(3) What will Jenny do at the party
Suggested answers: (1) It’s Jenny’s birthday. They want to hold a surprise party to have fun. (2) The speakers are going to make a monster cake to give Jenny a surprise. (3) Jenny will blow out candles and make a wish.

Step III Writing
1. Ask students to use the language they have learnt to answer the questions.

2. Ask students to write a short paragragh about a traditional Chinese festival to a foreign friend.
3. Ask students to read their paragraghs in class.

Step IV Famous sayings
1. Ask students to read the four quotes and the notes on Page 51.

2. Discuss the quotes with students and guess which festivals they are related to.
3. Ask students to translate each quote.

Step Ⅴ Homework
1. Listen to the dialogues and remember the new words and phrases.
2. Imagine you’re Jenny’s friend. Write a letter to introduce a Chinese festival to her.
