Step I Pre-watching
1. Present some pictures of Chinese culture and ask students to answer the question:
If you are going to introduce traditional Chinese culture to a group of foreign friends, what culture would you choose
2. T: What do you know about Chinese paper cuts This video introduces the history of paper cuts and the meanings of different images. Before watching, let’s look at the pictures of paper cuts on Page 64 and answer the questions.

Suggested answers: 1 The image of a baby and some flowers, the Chinese character of double happiness, the image of the god of wealth. 2 In Chinese culture, paper cuts symbolise the ideas of happiness, good luck and good fortune. The paper cuts have been used for decoration, for religious purposes, and for design patterns for clothing.
