In 1935,when Emma was five years old,her mother died. Her brothers and sisters were loving and caring,but they couldn't take the place of(代替)a mother's love. Emma,who grew up to be my mother,told me that her family was too poor to afford to buy her a little doll at that time.
After her mother's death,Emma decided to look after others.She felt that she could make up her sad childhood through her hard work to her own family.But I knew there was still something missing.

A friend of mine was glad to play Santa(圣诞老人)to send the gifts to our home on Christmas morning!I began to get ready for what would turn out to be one special day of my mother.
Santa arrived on Christmas Day at the planned time. Lucy was so happy to get the gift from Santa.When Santa turned to leave,he looked once more into his huge bag and brought out one more gift.Then he asked where Emma was.To my mother's big surprise,she heard her name!He handed her the gift and also a message card.
