【句式拓展】
as+adj./adv.的原级+as possible尽可能……
as+adj./adv.的原级+one can尽可能……
as...as possible是as...as it is (was)possible的省略形式。it指主句内容。当从句的谓语动词是be的某种形式时,谓语动词be与主语it 一同省略。
It was as if our kindly countryside,close to the very heart of England,had been turned into a cruel grassland.

The reason why they are doing this is that they think these words are irrelevant to children,so instead they’ve replaced them with terms like...他们之所以这样做,是因为他们认为这些词与儿童无关,所以他们用诸如……的术语来代替它们。(p.67)
该句型的变化形式有:The reason for...is that.../The reason(why)...is to do...

【提醒】
(1)dozen表示确切数目时除能与a和基数词连用外,还能与some,many,several等数目不很具体的词连用。其中dozen不加s,其后也不用of;
(2)如果dozen后有these,those,them,us等词,表示“范围中的某某”时,中间加of连接;
(3)dozens of表示不确定的数目,意为“许多,数十”等。
