本节课是高中英语第二册Unit 6 Admirable的第一课A Medical Pioneer,课型是阅读课。本节课主要内容是介绍了中国获得诺贝尔医学奖的科学家屠呦呦的故事,并介绍了她和她的团队是如何利用中药发现了治疗疟疾的故事。通过学习本课,使学生们了解中国获得诺贝尔奖的历史性时刻,还让学生懂得任何成功的背后都离不开不懈的努力和奋斗。此外,学生还将学到介词加关系代词的定语从句。
语言技能目标
学生能够借助关键词,在理解文章大意的基础上,找出段落主题句,完成读前问题;
用所学的词汇和语言的对课文进行复述;
能够读懂细节信息并能理解阅读中生词含义。
语言知识目标
能够正确运用一下单词和短语: admirable, infectious, vomit, vaccine, award, recognition, academy(academic), herb, recipe, limit(limited), staff, fame, influential, conduct, potential, integrate等。
能掌握定语从句(Relative Clause)的使用情况;
能够区别和理解定语从句中关系代词、关系副词以及介词加关系代词的情况。

了解伟大人物及其事迹相关话题;

Step-2 Lead-in This step is to lead the students to the topic--A Medical Pioneer. What do you know about malaria Read the facts about it and tick the ones you find most striking or interesting. Share with a partner what you know about Tu Youyou. Use the phrases below to help you (on Page 52). 紧扣上一环节的讨论,教师引导学生在阅读课文前进行一些与本课相关背景知识的表达,并鼓励学生与同学分享观点,激发学生的兴趣。此外,通过表达训练,可以锻炼学生口语能力和思维灵活性,更好地导入课题。 5分钟
Step-3 Pre-reading Teacher will give a question as following: What do you expect to read in a news article Tu Youyou Ask as many questions as you can. 通过读前头脑风暴,有助于学生对文章主旨大意的掌握,让学生带着问题进行阅读,进而帮助学生更好理解文章而进入泛读和精读环节。 5分钟
Step-4 Fast-reading Read the article and find out how many of your questions are answered in the last step. 通过泛读,能够让学生对文章每个部分有初步了解,锻炼学生对文章表层含义理解,养成良好的阅读习惯,提高阅读技能。并且帮助学生组织语言回答读前问题。 10分钟
Step-5 Careful-reading Read and complete the following information. Then introduce Tu Youyou to your partner based on what you have written. Draw a line to match the words and phrases in columns A and B. Then use the phrases to talk about Tu Youyou’s work and achievement. Use three words or phrases to summarise Tu Youyou’s proposal quality. Give your reasons and find evidence from the text. 有助于学生深层次把握文章细节内容,似学生建立起上下文关联的能力。并且通过小组合作的方式,有助于提高学生团队合作和交流能力。 15分钟
Step-6 Post-reading and Homework Think and share. Why is Tu Youyou considered a medical pioneer What typical writing features can you identify in the news article about Tu Youyou FOCUS ON LANGUAGE: RELATIVE CLAUSE (3) Read the sentences and tick the sentences that include a relative clause. Underline the clauses. Read the sentences from the article. Which words are used to join the sentences together Circle them. Try to summarise how they are used. Join the pairs of sentences using relative pronouns. HOMEWORK Suppose your school wants to choose three most admirable people as role models. You have one minute to persuade the committee to include Tu Youyou.
