教学设计
科目：英语 课题：Reading & Thinking课时：1课时
教学目标与核心素养：
知识目标：Read quickly to get the detailed information about Lin Qiaozhi, read carefully to do the deductive information.
能力目标：Study and grasp the structure features and language features.
情感目标：Communicate about Lin's life choices and reflect their own life choices
教学重难点
教学重点：Guide students to find the topic sentences quickly and carefully by combing the features of the text.
教学难点：Guide students to correctly understand and grasp new vocabularies which appear in the text and let students understand it is important, sometimes, for themselves to make some choices.
课前准备：多媒体，黑板，粉笔
教学过程：
一、Pre-class
1. Greeting
2. Leading-in
教师活动：教师分享自己的亲身经历，讲述生命中几个关键时刻的选择，以及这些选择对自己生活和事业的影响。教师也可以用几个熟悉的名人或者自己身边的人的故事为例，与学生们讨论不同阶段所做出的选择，让学生们进一步什么是人生的重要抉择。
活动目的：吸引学生的注意力，把学生的注意力吸引到课堂上来，让学生思考并讨论人生中最重要的抉择是什么并说明原因。可以和同伴讨论在人生的不同阶段所要面临的挑战和机遇。
While-class
1. 学生活动：
活动目的：1.学生看文章标题、插图以及活动2的问题，根据这些信息预测文章内容并谈论自己对文章标题的理解。教师可提出以下问题供学生思考：
What do you think the text is about What do you expect to read
How do you understand the title of the text
示例：From the title and the picture, we can know that the article might be about a brief introduction of a female doctor, Lin Qiaozhi, who saved a lot of babies by using her super medical technology. It is a biography, not a narrative.
2. 学生活动：Read the text and answer the following questions：
Q1: What hard choices was Dr Lin faced with throughout her life
Q2: What were the results of her choices
Q3: What does the author want to illustrate by mentioning Dr Lin's life choices
活动目的：要求学生阅读课文，找出林巧稚一生中的艰难抉择以及这些抉择带来的结果和影响，让学生通过梳理这些细节，理解和感悟作者的写作意图。让学生们学会通过快速阅读文章，可以找到关键信息来回答问题。
3. 学生活动：Read the following sentences and draw a conclusion.
1. "I'd rather stay single to study all my life."
2."Dr Lin, however, rejected the offer"
3. "She charged very low fees to treat patients often reduced costs for poor
4."The OB-GYN department cares for two lives, we should be responsible for the patients and treat them as our sisters.
From above sentences, have the Ss answer the following questions:
Q1: What was the main principle guiding Dr Lin through the choices in her life
Q2: What kind of person do you think Dr Lin was
Q3: How do you feel after you read the passage about Dr Lin
活动目的: 要求学生结合阅读篇章所提供的事实和细节，通过分析和探讨前两个问题得出合理的结论：贯穿林巧稚一生的人生原则是什么？林巧稚是一个怎样的人？“下结论”也是本单元的核心阅读策略，着重培养学生的深层思维能力。在这一活动中，学生不但需要关注内容细节，还要学会分析文本的语言特点，理解作者的态度和观点，从而得出自己的结论，回答第三个问题。
三、After-class
Complete the sentences according to the text.

3 Many Americans about the sharp increase in the cost of health care and health insurance recently.
