The UN Environment Programme says that raising temperatures could mean the end of some migrating (迁徙) animals.
Migrating animals move through several environments as they travel away from the cold area into winter to warmer ones. Birds may fly from one part of the world to another, perhaps stopping at feeding grounds on the way. Whales and turtles travel through huge areas of ocean. A report says that changes in any one of the places where these animals stay can cause serious problems. “Obviously these animals have developed their traveling ways over thousands of years. But weather changes much greater over the next 25 to 50 years. And it is impossible for these animals to change their habits fast enough,”said the report writer Dr. Robert Hepworth.
Turtles are hit hardest by rising temperatures. Scientists have found that at higher temperatures, Turtles have far more female eggs than male ones. In parts of Malaysia, Turtles are only giving birth to female babies. And some turtles are more probable to develop cancer as the waters get warmer.
With birds, the main problem is the harm to important areas at the end of their travels or at resting places along the way. About one-fifth of immigration birds are now in danger because of these changes, including rising sea levels, land loss and more strong storms.
Some other animals are now in great danger. For example, the North Atlantic Right Whale is losing their food because of the changing ocean flows; The White-Nose Dolphin is out-competed (淘汰) by other kinds in warmer waters.
The report is not all bad news. Even with the temperature changing, protecting the environment can still help migrating animals return. "We need governments to start taking action all over the world. The clock is ticking. We should make full use of every minute. " said Dr. Hepworth. And now some projects are already working! Whales are changing their feeding habits, finding new feeding grounds and new foods to eat.

The Internet has influenced our daily life, and some world's leading tech companies are planning to build smarter online communities. They discussed this at the World Internet Conference, which was held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang.
The development of artificial intelligence(AI) was a hot topic at the meeting. If a machine can learn and solve problems as humans do, it can be called AI.
The company Alibaba uses AI technology in its unmanned supermarket in Wuzhen. There is no salesperson in the supermarkets, just a pad on a desk that says“please smile”. If you smile, it gives you a special discount(折扣) off your food. The bigger you smile, the more discounts for your food. Payment is done itself through your Alipay number. When you first enter the supermarket, the supermarket's Al recognizes(识别) your face and your account(账号).
There is also AI that can read lips(唇). Sougou brought its lip-reading system to the conference. It recognizes your mouth's movements and turns them into voice or text messages. This could be very useful when you are trying to talk to someone on your phone in a noisy place. Police could also use the technology to help them catch criminal suspects by lip-reading recordings from video camera.
Another type of AI focus on understanding human emotions(表情). Microsoft Chatbox XiaoIce can talk with people like a real friend. XiaoIce has WeChat account. 第3组(2021北部湾模拟4)
Do you have trouble trying to create the next big idea Sometimes the answer isn't to just force an idea out of your mind. Instead, you might want to try sitting back, relaxing and letting your mind wander(走神). Yes, you heard that correctly. If you are in need of a new idea, try daydreaming.
Researchers from the University of Califormia, Santa Barbara, found an association(联系) between daydreaming and creative problem-solving. Their study includes having participants(参 与 者) first do an“unusual-use task". They had to try to come up with as many different ways to use an object as they could.
Then, the participants chose to do one of the following four things before doing the “unusual-use task" again: Complete a difficult task; complete an easy task; take a 12 - minute break; or skip (跳过) 12-minute break and move right on to the task exercise again.
Surprisingly, the group that performed best was the one that completed the easy task. Many participants reported that they were daydreaming while performing the easy task. So the researchers believed that this daydreaming might have helped unlock their creativity.
But how could daydreaming help the brain come up with creative ways The answer is something known as“unconscious thought". Even when you are not actively working to solve a problem, it is still in the back of your mind. Your brain is still thinking about the problem, but in a much more subtle(不易察觉的) way.
When you daydream, your mind is allowed to think in ways it normally would not. Because it is free of control, it can create completely new and out-of-the-box ideas.
Great ideas never come easily, but that does not mean you always have to work hard to get them. Feel free to do what you want and let your mind wander.

“Don't tell anyone.”We hear these words when someone tells a secret to us. But it can be hard to keep a secret. Often, we can't help“spilling the beans", even if we regret it later.
According to Dr. Asim Shah, at Baylor College of Medicine, US, keeping a secret may well “become a burden(负担)”This is because people often have an obsessive urge(强迫性的冲动) to share it with someone.
An earlier study, led by Anita E. Kelly, a scientist at the University of Notre Dame, US, suggested that keeping a secret could cause stress(压力). People with secrets can suffer from anxiety(焦虑) and body aches, reported the daily Mail.
It's hard to keep secrets._▲_ Shah explained that people often feel that it will help them keep a person as a friend. Another reason is that people will feel guilty(内疚的) without sharing secrets with someone close to them. A sense of distrust(不信任) can develop when people who are close do not share it with each other.“Keeping or sharing secrets often puts people in a position(位置) of either getting or losing the trust of someone.”according to Shah.
He added that talkative(爱说话的) people could let secrets out. But this doesn't mean that it is a good idea only to share secrets with quiet people. A quiet person may be someone who keeps everything inside. To tell such a person a secret may cause them more stress, and make them talk about the secret.
Shah suggested that if you accidentally give up someone's secret, you should tell him about it. Let the person know that their secret isn't so secret any more. She also said that to decide whether to tell someone a secret, you'd better put yourself in their position. Think about how you would feel to be told that you mustn't give the secret away.
So if someone tells you a secret, will it become your burden

Do stars only appear at night The answer is no.Venus (金星)is the one and only star that can be seen in daytime. It shone at its brightest in the night sky on Feb 17,2017.
Venus is the second planet from the sun. It is the second brightest natural object(物体),behind Earth's moon, in the night sky. Why is it so bright
First of all, Venus is the closest planet to Earth. It is also covered by highly reflective(反射的)clouds, which can reflect about 70% the sunlight shining it, almost twice as much as Earth does. The earth can only reflect about 35%. Especially, on February 17,2017,many astronomers(天文学家)can find the bright lights from Venus. Some are calling 2017 the year of Venus, because the planet is at its brightest twice this year.Venus gets brighter when it goes further away from the sun,and nearer to the Earth. The brightest moment happened once in February, and will happen again, during daylight,on April 30.
If Venus is so bright and close to us, isn't it a better choice for human exploration(探索)than Mars It is closer to Earth than Mars and it's closer to Earth in size. The closer way to the sun means solar power would be easier to generate(产生)as well.
However, with a temperature of about 465°C on the surface, Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system! But scientists never give up. Recently, a team of NASA and Russian scientists created new computer machine that can stand temperatures of 480°C. It can work under Venus-like conditions for almost 22 days.
The next step, according to the scientists,is to send a probe(探测器)to Venus by 2025.

People often set an alarm on their phones or clocks that sounds like“beep, beep, beep”to walk them up. People might think a harsh(刺耳的) beeping sound is more successful in waking up a person. But in fact that unpleasant sound may make it harder for people to shake off the sleepy feeling in the morning. So, is there a better way to wake up According to a study carried out by researchers in Australia, the answer is yes. It is music.
There were 50 people who played a role in the study. The 50 people had to answer some questions, including what kind of alarm sound they like, how they feel about that sound and how they feel when they wake up. The researchers found that people who woke up to musical alarms felt more awake.
Sleep inertia means a person has trouble getting up after sleeping, and has a heavy feeling when waking up. That has harmful influences on human performance later during the day. And sleep inertia may cause some serious accidents.
So, what makes musical alarms better for waking up The researchers think the music may be more successful in reducing sleep inertia because it have several tones( 音量), comparing with the single tone of a“beeping”alarm. McFarlane said that the changes between the music tones may help increase a person's attention when waking from sleep. So alarms that have a melody(旋律) can help people feel fresher in the morning. The researchers also suggest setting alarm sounds that are easy to sing along with.
No matter how you wake up, experts say, the amount of sleep you get also matters a lot.

Have you ever experienced that when you start to fall asleep, you have a feeling of falling and then wake up suddenly If so, don’t worry. That’s just because you’re in a condition of hypnic jerks(入睡抽动).
In fact, hypnic jerks are also called sleep starts. When you’re going to sleep, your muscles(肌肉) of the arms, legs or other parts of your body may twitch( 抽 搐 ). They are very common. About 70% of people experience them sometimes, Huffington Post reported. It means that 7 out of 10 people have had hypnic jerks. But what causes them
There are some reasons. Some scientists think that the hypnic jerks are the result of the muscles relaxing. When you begin to sleep, your muscles become relaxed. But your brain is still awake. It misunderstands the relaxing of your muscles as a sign that you’re falling. Then your brain jerks your body awake. It seems that it’s trying to protect you.
Other scientists believe that different periods of sleep might cause the hypnic jerks. When you sleep, you will experience two periods: non-rapid eye movement(NREM) and rapid eye movement(REM). During REM, your heart and nervous system can act irregularly( 不 规 律 地 ). If the body experiences flashes(一瞬间) of REM while entering sleep, these irregularities could cause twitches.
If you don’t want to experience the hypnic jerks, scientists have some suggestions. When you become deeply relaxed, you can learn how to reconnect by moving your fingers a little bit, then start to move your head slowly and open your eyes.
Sometimes, hypnic jerks may cause fear. However, scientists agree that they are harmless. If you experience the feeling of falling and it wakes you up, don’t worry and just go back to sleep again. But keep in mind: a caffeinated(含咖啡因的) drink, exciting evening activities or nervousness may make hypnic jerks happen more often.

①You may think the best way to solve a difficult problem is to keep working on it, even overnight. But the truth is just the opposite: Your best chance to get to the bottom of a problem is actually to sleep on it.
②A team of researchers at Northwestern University, US, did a study and found that seeping is useful in both strengthening(强化) and re organizing(重组) memory. This can help you solve problems.
③The researchers did a experiment with S7 students. They asked them to solve 42 difficult puzzles(谜题) on the first day. The students worked on each puzzle while listening to different music. The research encouraged students to remember the music they heard while solving the puzzles. By the end, there were six puzzles that the students still hadn't solved. The students then went back home to sleep. They were given special sleep monitoring(睡眠监测) and music devices(设备). The devices played music connected with the unsolved puzzles while the students were in the slow-wave sleep period. This period is when people are likely to(可能) dream and re-organize their memories.
④The next morning, the students tried the unsolved puzzles again. Researchers found they were 55% more likely to solve them. The music activated the memories about the puzzles while they were sleeping. It allowed them to“work" on the puzzles in their sleep.
⑤Earlier studies of both people and animals have shown that sleep can not only strengthen memory, but also help us organize information in our brains. This study sees to support that understanding.

"Five more minutes" is the first thought of many people when their alarm clocks ring in the morning. This first thought is usually followed by hitting the snooze button(延时闹响按钮)and falling back asleep for a few more moments, Hitting the snooze button has become a habit for millions of people.
Though hitting the snooze button allows people a few more minutes of sleep, it causes unhealthy sleep patterns(模式). Most people think if they are tired when they first wake up,they need more sleep. However, sleeping is a process(过程)with different cycles(循环).To feel fully rested, the body must go through all the sleep cycles,Falling back asleep after hitting the snooze button restarts the process. but when the alarm rings again several minutes later, the process is interrupted. The body has not gone through all the cycles, and this can cause the body to feel sleepy for the rest of the day. This sleepiness can influence memory, the ability to make choices, and performance at work or school.
Sleepiness may also happen if the body's biological rhythm(节律)is interrupted. People usually fall asleep at night and wake up in the morning because their rhythms are working naturally。 The rhythms are influenced by repeating use of the snooze button, and it can cause feelings of sleepiness during the day and a difficulty in falling asleep at night
People need to consider developing better living habits rather than depending on the snooze button. The easiest choice is to put the alarm on the other side of the room. You need to get out of bed to turn it off and it will reduce the possibility of hitting the snooze button. Another choice is to just reset the alarm. Setting your alarm for 30 minutes later will make the whole sleep process longer instead of always restarting it .
Though a few more minutes of sleep may seem to promise a better start to the day, hitting that snooze button creates an unhealthy sleep pattern.
