Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Presentation
Show a picture and let the students answer the questions below:
Can you see three bowls 2) What are in them 3) Do you like noodles
4)Can you find the differences among the three bowls of noodles
5)Show the sign ___Special 1, Special2, Special3 to understand their meanings.
Step2. Presentation
1. Teach the new words of food used in noodles.
2. Look at the numbered list of ingredients. Read and repeat.
3. Ask students to match each word with the foods in 1a.
Step3. Grammar
Present the countable and uncountable nouns.
List many words, and let the students discuss in groups and tell us what kinds of nouns these words are.
Step4. Presentation
Present the target language as following:
A: What kind of noodles would you like
B: I’d like beef and tomato noodles, please.
Step5. Practice the drill
1、Read the conversation above.
2、Ask students to work in pairs. One person is the waiter, the other one is the customer. Then let them perform the conversation in front of the classroom.
Step6. Listening
1、Show three bowls of noodles in picture. Ask: What ingredients are in these noodles
2、Play the recording the first time .Students only listen.
3、Play the recording a second time and correct the answers.
Step7. Homework
Review the knowledge learned in this period.
Copy the new words.

Let the students perform the conversation as following, imagining they are in a restaurant (Each student can be both the waiter and the customer):

B: I’d like beef and tomato noodles, please.

B: I’d like a large / medium / small bowl of noodles.
Step4. Listening
1、Listen and check the names of the foods they hear in 2a.
2、Listen and fill in the blanks in 2b.Play the recording a second time.
Step5. Pair work
1. Ask and answer questions with your partner. Use the information in 2a.
2. Show the conversations of 2a on the big screen to the Ss.
3. Make a model for the Ss.

二、可数名词与不可数名词
1. 可数名词:可数名词有单数、复数之分。其复数形式一般要加-s或-es。如:
potato—_______; tomato—__________
2. 不可数名词没有复数形式,只有单数形式。如:
some ______ (米饭);a lot of _____ (牛肉)
(1) 不可数名词表示数量的多少时,必须与表示数量的名词连用,即“数词+表示数量的名词(可数名词)+ of + 不可数名词”,如:
两玻璃杯果汁 三碗米饭

(2) 不可数名词做主语时,谓语动词只能用单数形式。例如:
在碗里有一些羊肉汤。

Moral objects:
Students can feel the fun of learning English, they can achieve that “learn in practice and practise in learn”. They should know about food culture and birthday culture around the world and have preliminary concepts of world culture.

Step 1 Warming up
Let students listen to a song “Happy birthday.” Then ask students: Do you like this song Can you sing Get students to sing it together.
Ask students: When do you sing this song What will you say to the birthday person
Step 2 Watch a video
T: When I have a birthday, my family say “Happy birthday!” to me, too. Now, I’d like you to watch a video about my birthday and tell me what I do on my birthday.(Play the video.)
S1: You light the candles. S2: You make a wish and blow out the candles.
T: Yes. I blow out the candles in one go. Do you know why
S3: Yes. If you blow out the candles in one go, your wish will come true.
T: Right. What do I eat on my birthday
Students: Birthday cake.
Show some pictures to present: birthday cake, candle, make a wish, blow out.
Step 3 Talking
T:This is my birthday. How about you What do you do on your birthday
S1: I usually have a birthday party. S2: I usually make a wish and blow the candles in one go.
T: And what do you eat on your birthday S3: I eat the birthday cake.
S4: I eat the noodles.
T:(show a picture of noodles)Do you cut up the noodles before you eat them?
S4:No, I didn’t. I never cut up the noodles.
T: Why S4: Because the long noodles are a symbol of long life.
T:What else do you eat then S5: I eat eggs.
T: Why do you eat eggs on your birthday S5: Because they are a symbol of life and good luck.
T: In the UK, people eat birthday cakes on their birthday. People sometimes put a candy in a birthday cake. The child with the candy is lucky.

T: So you see, people in different countries eat different foods on their birthday. Now let’s read an article about food traditions and complete the chart.

In China, there are some traditional festivals, such as the Spring Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Dragon Boat Festival. People eat some special food in these festivals. What special food do people eat and what are their special meanings Discuss in groups, fill in the chart and then write a short passage.
