教学过程
Step I 学习理解
活动一:Prediction
Ask students to look at the pictures and the topic on Page 4,and predict what the text is about.
【设计意图】通过Prediction活动,让学生养成一种良好的阅读习惯,即善于利用书面语篇中的标题、插图为阅读理解提供方向和信息。
活动二 : Read for details

2.Answer the questions. (SB,P5,Part 3)
(1) Why did the Egyptian government want to attempt the building of the dam
(2) How were the temples and other cultural sites saved

Suggested answers:
(1) Because the Egyptian government wanted to control floods, produce electricity and supply water to more farmers in the area.
(2)Temples and other cultural sites were taken down piece by piece, and then moved and put back together again in a place where they were safe from the water.
(3)Twenty years.
【设计意图】列数据是说明文中一种常见的写作手法。
