“Heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today and what we pass on to future generations.” This is quoted from the World Heritage Center. To paraphrase, Cultural heritages, just like a mirror of human civilization, reflect the ups and downs in history. But their preserving work is a creative process. In comparison with other projects, the Egyptian Aswan Dam was likely the best example.
In the 1950s, the Republic of Egypt attempted to let some cultural sites give way to a new dam. But this proposal led to strong protest parades immediately. In order to keep social balance, they turned to the UNESCO for help. Soon a special committee was established. Archaeologists, who took part in the project, further investigated the issue and strictly conducted tests. Finally they found some clues and made a perfect proposal for this project. They signed on the last sheet of the final document with the Egyptian government. With enough funds raised from 50 countries, the work went smoothly. These overseas experts showed their professional qualities, and their work was worthwhile, which made sure the roof, the entrance and the exit of the pyramids were in good condition. The loss of the ancient temples was limited. Thanks to the contributions from different departments and donations within the international community, they creatively prevented the cultural heritages from disappearing.
The destruction of cultural relics can't be forgiven throughout the world. As the descendants of the dragon, we should promote cultural awareness. 2017, a group of researchers and scientists recorded lots of digital images of the Mogao Caves, cypresses on Mount Tai, and chiwen carvings on ancient buildings. Then they shared them over the Internet, hoping that people all over the world would use APP(application) to download them, appreciate historic traditions, identify the values of cultural relics, and change their former opinions. In contrast to a few traffickers, most people want to protect these cultural relics forever, for they are the common wealth of mankind.
