[What]本节课围绕主题语境设计了三部分:第一部分讨论现在分词的功能和意义,并让学生找出更多例子。第二部分阅读网络帖子,让学生找出作定语和表语的现在分词,识别现在分词在句子中作定语和表语的特征。第三部分在实际语境中使用现在分词的适当形式填空。

活动一:识别时态(Part 1,P6)
1.Discussions.
Ask students to read the sentences below and discuss the functions and meanings of the italicised-ing form.
(1)These lanterns are amazing.(表语)
(2)During the Mid-Autumn Festival in China,families gather to admire the shining moon and enjoy delicious mooncakes.(定语)
(3)Families celebrating the Lunar New year can enjoy exciting dragon dances and carnivals together.(定语)
2.Ask students to find more sentences containing-ing form from the text on Page 45,and discuss briefly with a partner the major functions of them.
Another example is Halloween,which slowly became an exciting festival for children.(定语)
【设计意图】通过在句子中寻找和辨认现在分词、同伴互相讨论其功能和意义、在课文中寻找更多含有现在分词的句子,帮助学生在语境中初步理解和认识现在分词的用法。
活动二:情境理解(Part2,P6)
Read the messages on Page 6 posted by some exchange students on an Internet forum. Underline the-ing form used as the attribute or the predicative.

La Tomatina is a festival that takes place in the Spanish town Bunol every August. I think many food festivals are boring because people are just eating However,this festival is interesting because people don't actually eat the tomatoes. Instead,they throw them at each other!The number of people taking part in this tomato fight can reach up to 20,000,and it is a very exciting fight that lasts for a whole hour. The amazing thing is how clean Bunol is after the tomatoes are washed away after the fight. This is because the juice from tomatoes is really good for making surfaces clean!
【设计意图】在学习和练习了现在分词的用法之后,让学生置入真实的情境中,通过用现在分词作定语和表语描述西班牙的西红柿节,能够加深学生对现在分词的理解提高学习语法的兴趣。
