第二节:
One possible version:
I grabbed the signs and rushed out. I was incredibly sad and worried about our dog. Carrying the signs made by my mother, I was busy posting them along our street as well as along the surrounding streets. In the meantime, whenever there were people passing by, I would ask if they had met such a dog. Nobody claimed to have spotted our dog. Tears of regret welled up in my eyes. As the darkness fell, I decided to come back home to check if anybody had called.
When I returned, my mother was waiting for me, smiling broadly. There, behind my mother, was our lovely dog looking up at me eagerly. Upon seeing me, it raced towards me. I couldn’t hold my tears. “It just came back by itself,” my mother said gently. Hugging the dog with relief, I apologized to my mother sincerely. “I am sure you have learned your lesson today,” my mother replied in a comforting voice. It was on the day that I learned the value of responsibility.

M: Hey, Marta. How’s the job search going
W: I’ve had two job offers, but I don’t know which one to take.
M: Which one do you want
W: Well, there are parts of both of them that I like. One is being a sales representative for a computer company. I would travel three weeks each month, mostly in Europe and Asia.
M: That sounds really exciting. I’d like that.
W: Yeah, I would too. I love the idea of traveling. But my salary would depend completely on sales.
M: Ouch! That’s tough. What’s the other job like
W: It’s also working with computers. But I have to work in a very small office with only two other people. There would be no outside travel.
M: So it would probably be kind of dull.
W: Maybe. But it would be safe. The salary is pretty good.
M: Hmm... sounds like a tough choice to me.
Text 9
W: You’re so lucky, Todd. You travel all over the world. I never leave Chicago!

M: Well, in January I was in Melbourne for the Australian Open. It’s a beautiful city, sort of big. There’s a nice mixture of old and new buildings. January is their summer, so it was hot when I was there.
W: And what’s Dubai like When were you there
M: In February. We went from Australia to Dubai for the Dubai Tennis Open. Hot, very dry, very modern. Lots of really modern buildings, white buildings. An interesting place. I enjoyed it.
W: And Paris! That’s where I want to go! What’s Paris like
M: Everything that you imagine! Very beautiful, wonderful old buildings but lots of interesting modern ones, too. And of course very, very romantic, especially in May. Maybe I can take you there sometime.
Text 10
W: This is Science in the News. I’m Barbara Klein. On this program this week, I’ll tell about sharks. They are among the oldest animals on earth. Sharks are famous for attacking other sea creatures and even people. Yet they have been threatened by human activities. Scientists say sharks have lived in the world’s oceans for millions of years. Today, there are more than 350 different kinds of sharks. Most sharks are about two meters long. And the biggest whale shark can grow to a length of twenty meters. Sharks have an extremely good sense of smell. They also sense electrical and magnetic (有磁性的) power linked to nerves and muscles of living animals. These power senses help them find their food. They eat fish, other sharks, and plants. Some sharks can be found in very cold areas, but most sharks live in warm waters. Most sharks live in oceans. However, the bull shark leaves ocean waters to enter freshwater rivers and lakes.
