People usually use their mouths and also some body language to talk with each other. When we have good news, we want to talk about it with our good friends and when something bad happens, we make it known to others soon. But do you know that trees can also talk about news with each other too Of course, no tree moves lips and says words just as people do. It may sound strange, but some trees really try to talk with each other in other ways.
Willows are the best-known of these trees. When insects begin biting (叮) a willow, the tree sends out a special smell at once. This smell tells the other willows that harmful insects are coming near. All of them quickly make a chemical (化学品) in their leaves. This chemical is bad for the insects. The insects do not like it and will fly away soon. In this way, the willows protect themselves from the insects.
The next time when you take a walk in the woods, maybe the trees are talking to each other quietly. How magical nature is!

What’s causing global warming Is it a man-made disaster(灾难) Or are temperatures simply changing naturally Whatever the case is, we can at least try to slow things down. But how
The Nicodemus Wilderness Project suggests that we should plant trees. If the Earth has more trees, greenhouse gases will be reduced. Trees also cut down on water pollution, and provide habitats for wildlife to live in. What’s more, they improve human health by producing oxygen (氧气) and improving air quality. In fact, if we plant one tree, just one, it will have lots of benefits for our planet. A tree not only takes in a lot of harmful greenhouse gases over its lifetime, but also produces much oxygen for people. And it provides the cooling effect like an air conditioner does.
In fact, lots of people have already done so. Tree planting is becoming more and more popular as a way to take part in protecting the environment. The Canopy Project planted one million trees in 2010 as part of the AVATAR Home Tree Initiative. In total, trees were planted in 16 countries. In Belgium, the Organization for Forests worked with private land owners to help them plant trees. In Germany, a young man named Felix Finkbeiner has been leading a global movement to plant more trees. He was nine when he came up with the idea of planting trees around the world. And, what can you do to help Well, you could go to your local garden center and buy a tree, although you’d need to get advice on how to look after it properly so that it can survive (生存). Besides, you can join a tree planting project.

Our environment in ten years: for better or worse
Many students are optimistic about the environment in ten years. In fact, they think that more and more people will take part in the environmental protection and our government will take more measures to improve our environment. As a result, our world will be more beautiful and we will have better lives.
However, other students are worried about the future. They say a number of trees will be cut down and there will be more and more private cars. Therefore, we will have even more environmental problems and live in a world with less energy available.
But in my opinion, we will find ways to solve our problems and everyone will live more happily.
