案例一
活动方式:Pair Work(P27)
活动内容:Talk about the dish to be taken to a potluck dinner.
学情分析:
学生通过听力,已经获取了美国四种常见食物(hamburger,nachos,fortune cookie,gumbo)的起源、制作原料、口味等。本活动需要学生讨论自己参加 potluckdinner要带的菜,要从食物的名称、菜谱、做法等方面相互交流。
教学目标:
使用恰当的语言表达自己参加 potluck dinner要带的食物名称、菜谱、做法等方面信息。
活动过程:
1. Prepare for the discussion.
Ask students to prepare the dinner in the following aspects:
(1) Name of the dish.
(2) What is the food made of
1.5 lbs chicken(thighs or breasts) boneless, skinless
2 large bell peppers (any colour)
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 packet taco seasoning
1 lbs cauliflower rice or cauliflower crumbles
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup salsa
1/4 cup chopped cilantro and green onion
1 jalapeno, sliced
1 avocado, sliced
(3) How is the food prepared
① Chop the chicken and slice the bell peppers.
②Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet, and add the chicken and bell peppers until starting to brown. Add the seasoning, cooking until the chicken is cooked through.
③Add the remaining olive oil to a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the cauliflower rice and salt cooking until the cauliflower is warmed and slightly browned.
④Divide the rice between 4 bowls, and top with chicken and peppers. Add sliced avocado, jalapeno cilantro, green onion, and salsa.
2. Have a discussion.
Ask students to work in pairs and have a discussion.
What food will you bring
How is the food prepared and what is it made of
How is this food special
3. Assess.
Ask students to share their conversation with the whole class.
案例二
活动方式: Group Work(P29)
活动内容:讨论多元文化形成的原因、优点和挑战。
学情分析:
多元文化形成的原因是多方面的,不同地区形成的原因也不一样,比如说美国多元文化的形成主要是各国移民,贵州则有深远的历史原因。多元文化的优点和挑战也是一个很大的话题,因此学生在这个讨论活动中的难度主要是背景知识了解的少,所以在讨论活动开始,教师先提供给学生尽可能多的素材学习,然后再开展讨论。
教学目标:
1.分析多元文化形成的原因。
2.阐释多元文化的优点和挑战。
活动过程:
1.活动准备
教师给学生提供素材,让学生在课前阅读,初步形成自己的观点。
2.小组讨论活动
(1)明确讨论的问题
Have you ever been to a place that has a diverse culture?
What do you think brought about the cultural diversity?
What are the benefits and challenges of cultural diversity?
(2)开展讨论
Ask students to work in groups of four and discuss the above questions. They should give their opinions first and then give the reasons.
3.活动评价
首先以小组的形式给出他们的观点,然后总结一些共性的观点,大家达成共识。在这个过程中,教师要和学生进行深度互动,对学生的观点进行推理、论证、评析,挖掘多元文化形成的原因、优点和挑战。通过这些交流活动,逐步实现对语言知识和文化知识的内化,促进语言运用的自动化,并将知识转化成能力,发展学生的多元思维能力。
