Unit3 Listening and Speaking 名师教学设计
Teaching Analysis:
The topic of Unit 3 is about diverse cultures. And in the listening and speaking part, ss are going to listen to an interview about American food, talk about its origins and explore what the food show-the diversity of culture. For listening content, they definitely have known some kinds of American food like fast food, but they don’t know the other mixing-culture food and their origins. And for listening skills, they have get certain skills like telling relationship. Prediction but they still have difficulty in taking key information while listening. So the teaching objectives are as follow:
Teaching Objectives:
To understand the origins of the American food.
To summarize the features of American culture.
To apply listening skills like take quick notes in listening.
To talk about the origins of food.
Teaching Steps:
Step1: Lead-in
A video about “What is American food ”
Look at the map and think “what can you find ”
(Aims: To elicit the topic and activate their previous knowledge and experience about the topic.)
Step2: Pre-listening
Match the food description with the Pics.
(Aims: to get familiar with the topic words and prepare for the listening.)
Step3: While-listening
Listen for the main idea by focusing on who, what, where.
(Aims: To build the whole setting for the conversation by getting the main factors forming a situation.)
Listen for detailed information and judge the statement.
(Aims: to get the key information through previewing the statements and understand the listening text fully.)
Listen for notes.
(Aim: Apply the skill of taking notes.)
Step4: Post-listening
Thinking: What does American food show What does food show
(To develop ss’ thinking skills through exploring the culture implied by the food.)
Situational Conversation
Join in a potluck party.
Make a conversation with partners about what dish to bring.
(Aims: to talk about the origins of the food.)
Step5: Homework
To make a research on a kind of dish and the culture it reflects.
