It's a classroom. Instead of being told to sit quietly and listen, you are encouraged to stand up,jump around, imagine and act out. It's a class full of laughter and applause(鼓掌),emotion and energy. Welcome to drama class.one of my favourite classes at high school.
In drama class we used to play a lot of “drama games”. We would improvise(即兴创作),copy and above all use our imagination.
My favourite game was called " Spotto".One person stood in the front of the class and performed a scene, completely out of others' imagination. When one audience member yelled "Spotto!"the performer had to freeze. Then the person who had yelled "Spotto" had to get up and improvise a new plot(情节)based on the position the first performer froze in. This went on as more and more people were added to the scene. Eventually the entire class would have joined the scene. Then the performers would start to leave in reverse(相反的)order.
It was a lot of fun,and a good test of everyone's imagination to see what they would come up with. Drama class at my school often involved a big performance at the end of the term as well. We would work on a production throughout the term and put on a show for our parents and the school community.
It was a great experience to perform on stage in front of a large audience. Drama class can help shy children, like me,to come out of their shells. It helps them become more confident and develop their public speaking skills. Drama class is also a great place to express oneself, and a way for children to use up some of their energy.
5.Which do you agree with about the game "Spotto"?
A. Each performer in the game has to retell the story of the latter performer.
B.A performer has to show a story unrelated to that of the former performer.
C. Every student gets the chance to make a contribution to the “Spotto” game
D. It is designed to help drama students learn from one another's performance.
6.What does the underlined word "them” in the last paragraph refer to?
A. Shy child
B. The audience
C. Drama students.
D. the whole class
7.What do you know about the author according to the article?
A. He was too shy to attend the drama class.
B. He was a star student in the drama games.
C. He was shining in big performances each term.
D. He was happy to perform on stage in front of the audience.
8.What's the best title for this passage
A. A Few Drama Games for Fun
B. How to Improve Drama Skills
C. Unforgettable Experiences on Stage
D. One of My Favourite High School Courses

[河北张家口2019高一期末]You'll need to take a deep breath before hearing this news. An astonishing 93%of kids around the world live in environments with air pollution levels that are damaging their health, according to a new report by WHO.

The report stressed that health experts should communicate with families, communities and policymakers about the serious risks of air pollution exposure." Although more research into how air pollution affects children’s health will continue to be valuable, there is already evidence to justify strong, swift action to prevent the damage it clearly produces,"WHO added.
Diseases caused by dirty air are more common in low-and middle-income countries, especially those in Africa,South-east Asia, and Western Pacific regions,Poor countries in these areas have the highest levels of exposure to household pollution due to the use of polluting fuels and technologies for basic needs like cooking, heating and lighting.

[北京西城区2019高一期末] Philosophers from Aristotle to the Beatles have argued that money does not buy happiness. But it seems to help.Since2005,Gallup,a pollster(民意调查者),has asked a representative sample of adults from the countries across the world to rate their life satisfaction on a scale from zero to ten. The headline result is clear:the riche the country,on average, the higher the level of sell-reported happiness. The simple correlation(相互关系)suggests that doubling GDP per person lifts life satisfaction by about 0. 7 points.
Yet the prediction that as a country gets richer, its mood will improve has an unclear record. In 1974 Richard Easterlin, an economist, discovered that average life satisfaction in America had failed to develop between 1946 and 1970 even as GDP per person had grown by 65% over the same period. He went on to find a similar disconnect in other places, too. Although income is correlated with happiness when looking across countries-and although economic downturns are reliable sources of short-term suffering-long-term GDP growth does not seem to be enough to turn the average frown (皱眉) upside down.
The "Easterlin paradox(悖论)"has been hotly debated since, with some economists claiming to find a link between growth and rising happiness by using better quality data. On March 20th the latest Gallup data were presented in the World Happiness Report, an annual UN-backed study. The new data provide some evidence for both sides of the debate, but on the whole, suggest that the paradox is alive and well.
There are important examples of national income and happiness rising and falling together. The most significant-in terms of population-is China, where GDP per person has doubled over a decade, while average happiness has risen by 0.43points. Among rich countries, Germany enjoys higher incomes and greater cheer than ten years ago. Venezuela, once the fifth happiest country in the world, has become miserable as its economy has collapsed. Looking across countries, economic growth is correlated with rising happiness.
Yet that correlation is very weak. Of the 125 countries for which good data exist, 43 have seen GDP per person and happiness move in opposite directions. Like China, India is a populous developing economy that is growing quickly. But happiness is down by about 1. 2 points in the past decade. America, the subject of Easterlin's first study, has again see happiness fall as the economy has grown. In total, the world's population looks roughly equally divided between places where happiness and incomes have moved in the same direction over the past ten years, and places where they have diverged.
13. What can we learn from paragraph 2
A. Economic downturns don’t cause people’s unhappiness
B. Economic growth increased average life satisfaction in America
C. Long-term GDP growth does not necessarily make people happy
D. The correlation between people's mood and income can be predicted
14. Which of the following countries has both a better economy and happier people
A. India B. America C. Venezuela D. China
15. Which of the following does the writer probably agree with
A. The relationship between economic growth and rising happiness is uncertain
B. Countries with similar population tend to have more things in common
C. Half of the world enjoys growth when the economy and mood are positive.
D. National income and happiness will always rise and fall regularly.

It was somewhere between spring and summer,my mum and I were driving through the countryside. Back then,I was 13 years old,and always felt unhappy with Mum. But little did I know that this trip was going to be a special one.
A bunch of flowers sat in the back seat, whose heavenly scent(香味)filled the car.
Suddenly,in the middle of nowhere,my mum pulled over. "What are you doing?”I cried, fearing that the car had broken down and we'd be stuck there,so far from home. But that wasn't the case. My mum hopped out of the car, grabbing the flowers from the back seat. "It'll just be a minute,"she called back through the open windows.
My eyes impatiently glanced at the edge of the road before settling on a little sign showing that it was a nursing home. I looked back to the building, somewhat annoyed,as my mum reappeared empty-handed.
Before she started the car, curiosity drove me to ask,"Do you know someone there?"She shook her head." Then what did you do with the flowers?"She smiled slightly,"I gave them to the receptionist." "What?"She laughed at my confusion. “I told the receptionist to give the flowers to whoever needed them, especially who hasn't gotten any for a while.”
I kept silent for a moment. Not long after we continued our driving,I spoke again,"Did you leave your name?To this she answered instantly,"No. Leaving flowers there for someone who will appreciate them makes me feel good, which is enough of a thank for me.”
Suddenly, still thinking about Mum's deeds,I heard something burst loudly. It was our car that broke down!Nothing should be worse, because neither my mum nor I understood how to repair it,and we didn't know where the garage was. It also seemed impossible to wait for any passer-by,since we had seen so few along the way. Paragraph I:
We were worrying about what could be done.___________________________

Paragraph 1:
We were worrying about what could be done. But after waiting in vain for a considerable time,Mum and I decided to walk back to the nursing home and seek help. God knows how far we had driven! When we arrived, the receptionist was surprised, but warmly helped us contact the garage. There, the old who had received the flowers were excited to meet us,talking about how great that day was. It amazed me what random actions of kindness could mean to the people who received it. While we were laughing and talking merrily the garage mechanic got our ear repaired. Paragraph 2:
As we drove along,a flower shop came into sight. I asked for a stop and paced quickly into the flower shop, where a bunch of flowers glowing red in full bloom caught my eye. Having witnessed the effect of kindness,I decided to give Mum the sweet flowers .Soon, the heavenly scent filled the car again Mum tried to conceal her excitement, but the glittering tears failed h Through this trip,I discovered that, despite my occasional anger at her actually felt proud of her. This was a special trip of my life.
