Teaching Analysis:
The topic of this unit is “People of Achievement”. In this unit, Ss are going to explore what greatness means through reading the introduction of people of achievement and their contributions. The text in this period is a biography of Albert Einstein. The whole passage introduces the major achievements, life and anecdotes of Einstein, which show Einstein’s personal qualities and attitude to study, life and people. And the target readers of this text are teenagers so the language of the text is relatively easy to understand and vivid. On the whole, the text sets a good example for ss to learn what to write to introduce a person they admire and how to organize their language. Thus, the teaching objectives are as follow:
Teaching Objectives:
To make out the structure by predicting on the descriptive words used in the text and reading for the main idea.
To summarize Einstein’s personal qualities and attitudes through analyzing the details.
To introduce a person you admire through referring to the content, language and skills used in the text.
