A
The 1987 season was a tough year. Up to that point, I was at the top of the world of racing. I had won three NASCAR Winston Cup championships. Racing had been very good to me. But in 1987, I was with a new team, and things weren't going very well. It had been expected that we were the dream team. I had the best backing from the Hendrick Motorsports Group, an excellent sponsorship, and the best engine builder in racing. However, going into the last part of the season, we still had not won a race. In addition to my not winning races, we found out that Stevie, my wife, was pregnant. All of this was emotionally tough for me. Stevie had three miscarriages(流产) previously. She had never been able to carry a baby to full term, and I felt badly for her.
Now she was not able to go to the track each weekend with me. Stevie has always been such a part of my life and my racing career. I had not experienced life at the track without Stevie. She has stood by me with much encouragement through the ups and downs and boos and cheers of fans. It was tough on me to be racing without her there.
On September 17, we were blessed with our first child, Jessica Leigh. I had to leave to go on to the next race later that week. The race was at Martinsville, Virginia, where I had won several times before. But I had no expectations of winning this time. As the race progressed, I really had no hope of winning, as I was a lap down with just twenty-five laps to go. Dale Earnhardt was leading. When he stopped for fuel, I got back on the lead lap. Then a caution came out with about seven laps to go. On the restart, I was in third place behind Earnhardt and Terry Labonte. Both were previous champions and were tough racers. There was no way I was going to get by them with just a few laps to go. They could make it very difficult to get around them. On the final lap in the final turns of 3 and 4, Terry had gotten up beside Dale and left just a little opening for me to pass both of them, beating them to the finish line. I won my first race of the year! It was much more special, though, than just being my first win of the season and my first victory with the new team. For earlier that Sunday morning, appearing from nowhere, I was surprised to find a little rosebud in the seat of my car with a note that said, "Win one for me, Daddy!" My first race of the season was sweetened by it occurring on the same day that I was first called "Daddy."
21. Which one is not the reason why the author felt tough in the 1987 season
A. He hadn’t won a race with his new team.
B. The Hendrick Motorsports Group didn’t want to sponsor him any longer.
C. His wife was not able to go to races with him.
D. His wife, Stevie, is going to give birth to a baby.
22. In the author’s opinion, which one contributes most to his success
A. The active cooperation from his teammates.
B. The affectionate support from his family.
C. The excellent sponsorship from the Hendrick Motorsports Group.
D. The same racing place where he had won a few times before.
23. What’s the best title of this passage
A. Win with the new team B. Life is sweet
C. Win one for me, Daddy D. Nothing is impossible
B
One day your pocket might power your smart phone. Soon you may never have to worry about your smart phone running out of juice. Your clothing will simply power it back up for you. That's the word from scientists at China's Chongqing and Jinan Universities in a study just published in the journal ACS Nano.
Researchers have been hard at work during the last few years trying to create wearable energy, or clothes that can charge things. The assumption is simple. People today rely heavily upon devices such as smart phones and tablets. And they're looking for ways to recharge these devices on the go. So if you could design clothing fabric(织物,布)that could make use of solar power —one of the most widely available and inexhaustible renewable energy sources — you'd be able to charge your various devices with ease.
Scientists have had some past success creating energy-harvesting fibers. But there was always one problem when they tried to fashion these threads into self-powered smart clothes: The fibers they designed got damaged during the clothing manufacturing process, namely during the weaving and cutting. The Chongqing and Jinan University scientists say they've solved this problem because the energy-collecting and energy-storing threads they created are highly flexible — each individual thread is easily bendable, and not simply the fabric as a whole.
The team's sample textile(纺织品)can be fully charged to 1.2 volts in 17 seconds by exposure to sunlight — enough voltage that your future smart T or smart dress might be able to power small electronics. It's durable, too; their research showed there was no descent in the fabric after 60 days. But don't worry that this means the fabric is similar to rough cloth. The scientists note their textile can be fashioned into numerous different patterns, and tailored into any designed shape, without affecting performance.
What does the underlined phrase "running out of juice" in paragraph 1 mean
A. Being lacking in energy. B. Wanting to have some juice.
C. Being picked out of a drink. D. Having some water running out.
Why could smart dress charge a phone
A. A solar cell is attached to the dress.
B. The fabric of the textile contains current.
C. The fabric of the textile is easily bendable.
D. The fabric of the textile could collect and store the solar energy.
26. What is the scientists’ attitude towards the scientific technology
A. Optimistic. B. Pessimistic. C. Neutral. D. Doubtful.
C
As life in cities worldwide becomes more expensive, urban designers are using modern technology to help citizens avoid traffic jams, and shorten the time needed for bus waiting and other things. Technology is also used to cut costly waste.
In Santander, a Spanish port city, parking is easy to find. As one car drivers away, an underground sensor shows that a parking space is now free. 400 sensors send messages to signs on streets, and GPS devices direct drivers to the nearest available parking spaces, reducing traffic jams. Trash is collected only when the bins are full and bus stop signs show exactly when the next bus is coming. The public parks are watered only the soil gets dry. All this is made possible by 20,000 sensors installed on buildings, street posts and even buses. They are part of the “smart city” project, lauched by the University of Cantabria seven years ago.
University researchers like Luis Mounoz regularly meet with locals to discuss how to make their city even smarter. “ They propose when they have ideas and sometimes even develop by themselves. Here, we give them the opportunity to see these ideas happen in real life, ” said Munoz. For example, the university helped a woman create an app that outlines the easiest route for walking with a baby stroller. Another provides information to residents about their water consumption and sends an alarm to their phone if there is a leak.
The Santander smart project is attracting the attention of larger cities in Europe and elsewhere that are looking for smart solutios to urban problems.
27.What is the lifelike in Santander
A.It is meaningful B.It is full of freedom
C.It is likely to change fast D. It is effective and convenient
28.How can residents help Munoz’s job
A.By offering some original or fresh ideas. B.By showing him around the city.
C.By installling sensors themselves D.By using as little water as possible.
29.What does the underlined word “Another”in Paragraph 3 refer to
A. A university B. A phone C. An easy route D. An app
What can be the best title for the text
A. Worldwide Problem B. A Smart City Project
C. A Creatvie Researcher D.A Trend in Urban Design

Dana, 14, was an ordinary girl. She was at Parish Hill Middle School. It was a pretty average day for her. At least that was what she thought when she was walking to school as usual on foot, with some schoolbooks in her hand.
Dana got to the corner of Main and North streets, just in time to miss the traffic light. She sighed, “I could have walked a little bit faster!” she thought. She raised her wrist to read her watch: it was 8:24. Her first class began at 9 a.m. She had enough time to go to school. So Dana stood at the corner, waiting for the traffic light patiently.
When she was waiting, she half noticed the people who were also waiting for the light with her. There was a woman carrying a bag from Walmart, and a man in a business suit who looked a little like her father, and a mother with a half dozen packages in one hand, trying to control her little kid with the other. The kid was two or maybe three. Dana doesn’t have that much experience with little kids, so it’s hard for her to tell how old they are, or if they’re boys or girls. This one was just a wriggling(扭来扭去的) kid in overalls and a blue shirt.
Main Street was a busy street, let alone the intersection of it and North Street. Vehicles from four directions came running. Some roared passing the intersection, while some were waiting at the red light. Everything was going as usual.
But suddenly the kid managed to wriggle away from its mother. And before she even had a chance to notice it, the kid had run directly into the middle of Main and North streets. Cars were running and no driver noticed the kid. Just at that moment, a big blue car came right at the kid at full speed.

Okay, everyone. I want to review the first two days of our plan for the trip. Everyone should meet at the airport at 6:00 a.m. on the first day. This will give you time to check in. Our plane leaves at 9:00 in the morning and arrives in New York at 4:00 in the afternoon. Then we will take a bus from the airport to the hotel. For the following morning, those of you who like to take exercise can meet in front of the hotel around 6:00 a. m. to go jogging around Central Park for about 40 minutes, and we'll get back to the hotel about the time when the hotel restaurant opens. Then we'll have breakfast in the restaurant. At 8:00 we will take a bus to Liberty Island to visit the Statue of Liberty. This is something that you really can't miss, and later, we will go to Times Square where you can have lunch on your own for about an hour. Later in the afternoon, you will have the choice of visiting the Empire State Building. We will meet at the hotel at 6:00 p. m. and then we'll have dinner at a very nice downtown Italian restaurant. I'm sure you will love Italian food there. During the travel, you must pay careful attention to your health and safety. Uh, any questions
第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分35分)
第一节(共10小题;每小题2.5分,满分25分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题纸上将该项涂黑。
A
The 1987 season was a tough year.

Paragraph 1: Dana didn’t think even for one second and ran into the street.
Paragraph 2:Over that noise and the kid’s crying, Dana heard its mother screaming from across the street.
One Possible Version:
Dana didn’t think even for one second and ran into the street. “It could hit us!” she thought while pushing the kid hard out of the way. The momentum of pushing kept her going, and Dana stumbled along, holding the frightened kid, with her schoolbooks scattred around. In what couldn’t have been more thant ten seconds, but felt more like ten years, she pushed both of them out of the path of the car. Then she heard the car screeching to a halt.
Over that noise and the kid’s crying, Dana heard its mother screaming from across the street. She dashed over to them, flung her arms round the kid and failed to utter a word, shaking pretty hard and weeping. Dana collapsed on the ground, realizing just what the car could have done to her. The man in suit picked up the schoolbooks for her. The moment Dana got the books back and decided to leave without being noticed, the mother to squeeze her hands tight, “Oh, how can I ever thank you You’re our heroine!”
