[What]本节课为写作项目课,学习文体为一篇书信,书信以未来Bingbing口吻描述了未来科技发展对过去的Bingbing原本想要从事的飞行员职业的影响,介绍了自己在未来从事的职业,分析职业利弊并告知应当为未来从事的职业做好准备。
[Why]提高学生使用英语表达个人职业倾向及未来规划的能力。
[How]教学材料将英语语用目标和本单元的主题语境有机结合起来,让学生在主题语境的探究过程中提高英语语用能力,深入对主题的探究。
课时目标
1.通过阅读书信,获取主要内容和写作特点。
2.学习用恰当的语言和格式写一封来自未来、介绍将来职业的书信。
3.培养学生自学以及合作学习的能力,引导学生主动学习。

用恰当的语言写一封书信,介绍自己将来的职业及规划。
教学准备
教师准备:
准备好未来科技进步可能对生活带来影响的信息或照片。
学生准备:
1.复习一般将来时及将来进行时的用法和本单元的重点词汇。
2.准备介绍自己感兴趣的职业的照片。
教学过程
Step Ⅰ 学习理解
活动一:获取与梳理
1.Free talk.
Show students some pictures about technological advances in the future and let them have a free talk.
·Which careers are you interested in?
·How might future advances in technology change those careers?
【设计意图】通过展示未来科技可能对人类生活和工作带来的改变,拓宽学生的知识面,并让其讨论未来科技可能对自已感兴趣的工作带来的改变,使学生为接下来的书信阅读及后续活动做好准备。
2.Ask students to read the letter on Page 23 and answer the questions.
·What did Past Bingbing want to be?
·What will happen to pilots in the future and why?
·What’s the career of Future Bingbing?
·What’s the advantage and disadvantage of Future Bingbing’s career?
·What will Past Bingbing have to do to prepare for his future career?
Suggested answers:
·Past Bingbing wanted to be a pilot.
·Pilots won’t be needed in the future because large passenger airplanes will fly themselves.
·He is a jet pack air traffic controller.
·The advantage is that he doesn’t have to leave home. Instead,he’ ll use a virtual reality headset and microphone to do his job while he is sitting on the sofa drinking tea. The disadvantage is that too many jet packs in the sky! Sometimes it can be kind of tense,and some people don’t like to obey the rules or be told what to do.
·Past Bingbing will have to work on his people skills.
【设计意图】通过提问的方式让学生对书信的内容架构一目了然,为接下来的writing做铺垫。
Step Ⅱ 应用实践
活动二:分析与判断
1.Discussion.
How does Future Bingbing deal with his greeting and closing in his letter?
2.Group work.
(1)Find out the useful structures used to talk aboutthe advantages and disadvantages of Future Bingbing’s career and the ones to introduce the preparations for his career
(2)Share with your group members.
【设计意图】Discussion部分能让学生了解如何组织架构信的开头和结尾,而Group work通过让学生找出并分享信中有用的表达,降低了写作难度,为接下来的写作做好准备。
活动三:实践演练
1.Fill in the outline.
Describe your future career
The advantages and disadvantages of the career
The preparations needed for the career
2.Write a personal letter to yourself from the future to talk about your future career.
【设计意图】利用大纲,让学生初步组织自己语言,对接下来的写作内容进行构思,培养学生良好的写作习惯。
Step Ⅲ 迁移创新
活动四:批判与评价
1.Exchange drafts and assess each other’s work according to the checklist:
·Is there a greeting and closing in the letter?
·Does the writer use the correct tense?
·Does the writer use commas,stops,and question marks correctly?
·Are all the words spelt correctly?
·Are there any grammar mistakes?
·What can you learn from the letter?
2.Take turns presenting your letters in class. Then vote on the most interesting letter.
【设计意图】该环节让学生以小组方式对小组成员的作文进行批判评价,在评价的过程中,加深对主题意义的理解和多元思维的培养,有利于实现深度学习。
