第一节
阅读下列短文, 从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中, 选出最佳选项。

Liverpool, my hometown, is a unique city. It is so unique that in 2004 it became a World Heritage(遗产) Site.
I recently returned to my home city and my first stop was at a museum on the River Mersey. Blanketed in mist(薄雾),Victorian architecture rose from the banks of the river responded to the sounds of seabirds, and appeared unbelievably charming. When I headed towards the centre, I found myself surrounded by buildings that mirror the best palaces of Europe It is not hard to imagine why, on first seeing the city, most visitors would be overpowered by the beauty of the noble buildings, which are solid signs of Liverpool’s history
As if to stress its cultural role, Liverpool has more museums and galleries(美术馆)than most cities in Britain. At Walker Art Gallery,I was told that it has the best collections of Victorian paintings in the world, and is the home of modern art in the north of England. However, culture is more than galleries. Liverpool offers many music events. As Britain’s No. I music city,it has the biggest city music festival in Europe, and Its musicians are famous over the word. Liverpool is also well-known for its football and other sports events. Every year the Mersey River Festival attracts thousands of visitors, making the city a place of wonder.
As you would expect from such a city, there are restaurants serving food from around the world. When my trip was about to complete,I chose to rest my legs in Liverpool,s famous Philharmonic pub(酒客).It is a monument to perfection, and a heritage attraction itself.
Being a World Heritage Site,my home city is certainly place of “outstanding universal value”. It is a treasure house with plenty of secrets for the world to explore.

You may ride your bicycle in a rush to get to school every morning. You may fight to get a bit of space on a bus or on the subway. You may also watch taxis crawl their way through traffic jams.
No matter where you are,all big cities around the world have traffic jams these days. Although they all have their problems, many cities also have a type of transport that has become a cultural icon(象征物).
In London,to avoid the traffic jams above ground, people use the “Underground”,also called the “Tube”. The city has the oldest and most complicated underground railway systems in the world and the Underground is the pride of many Londoners. With 12 lines and 275 stations across the city, the Underground is normally the quickest and easiest way of getting across London. In London, you are never far from a tube station.
New York is famous for its yellow cabs. They serve as a quick and easy way of getting across Manhattan, where the subway doesn’t take you everywhere. Stopping a cab is easy:just stick out your arm like what you do in any other cities. But with over 12,000 yellow cabs in the Big apple,New York also has traffic jams.
Since 1873 when the first cable car started public service the slow and noisy vehicle has been a symbol of San Francisco. Although once damaged by a serious earthquake and challenged by cars, the cable car is never caught in traffic jams, and it provides better views than the subway.
But there are no such symbols in Los Angeles. If you visit this city, you’d better rent a car. The city’s public transportation is terrible. It can take hours to get across the town by bus. The subway covers just a small part of the city centre. The light rail line only runs between the Long Beach Hotel and the city centre. That’s why Angelenos(洛杉矶人)love their private cars more than any other people in the world.

The survey by The Harvard Crimson was emailed to incoming first-year undergraduates; 1, 600 students responded Results showed that at least a tenth of the students polled admitted to having cheated on an exam before starting at the university, while almost half admitted to cheating on their homework.

The park bench was deserted as I sat down to read beneath an old willow tree. Not satisfied with life, I was upset. At this time, a young boy approached me. He stood right before me with his head tilting(倾斜) down, saying with great excitement “Look what i found!”
In his hand was a flower with its petals(花瓣) all worn。 What a pitiful sight it was! That’s because there was not enough rain or light. Wanting him to take his dead flower away and go off to play, I forced a small smile and then turned away. But instead of leaving, he sat next to my side and placed the flower to his nose and declared with certainty. He said, “It surely smells pretty and it’s beautiful, too. That’s why I picked it and It’s for you.”
The flower before me was dying or dead. But I knew I must take it or he might never leave. So I reached for the flower and replied, “Just what I need.” But instead of placing the flower in my hand, he held it in midair without reason. It was then that I noticed for the first time the boy was blind.
I heard my voice shake and my eyes were full of tears as I thanked him for picking the very best one. He smiled, and then walked off to play, unaware of the effect he had on my day.
I sat there and wondered how he managed to see a self-tying woman beneath an old willow tree. Meanwhile, I felt confused about the reason why he tried to make me happy by showing the flower Perhaps from his heart, he enjoyed the world with true sight.

第三部分写作

One possible version
Dear editor,
Since the first Traditional Chinese Culture Festival is coming, there has been a heated discussion on whether to wear traditional costume or school uniforms at the festival. In my opinion, I would be happy to wear traditional Chinese costume.
Firstly, the clothes we wear can precisely display our culture Wearing traditional Chinese costume is more suitable for the activity. The school uniforms are fine, but not special enough to give a unique Chinese flavour. Secondly, we seldom have an opportunity to wear traditional Chinese costume, so we should grasp it to express our love for our culture.
All in all, the traditional Chinese costume will make the occasion very Chinese and impressive.
Yours,
Li Hu
