教学过程
Step I 学习理解
活动一:The pre-designing discussion
Ask students to work in groups and discuss these questions.
·What kind of restaurant will it be,e.g,fine dining,casual family,or fast food?
·What kind of cuisine will you serve Who will be your customers?
·How much will you charge?
·Where will the restaurant be located?
·…
活动二:Task-assigning activity
Ask students to work in groups and ask them to divide the following tasks within their group
·decide on the dishes to be served and the chef to be employed
·design the menu in both English and Chinese design the kitchen
·design the dining area and decorations
·give the restaurant a name and design advertising materials for it
·work as a manager to help everyone coordinate their ideas and activities
【设计意图】通过讨论餐厅的类别、目标顾客、收费、位置、菜品、菜单、装潢、广告、管理制度等,并在小组内分配任务,为设计餐厅做好准备。
Step Ⅱ 应用实践
活动三:Learn from the sample
1.Ask students to read the sample and learn from it.
2. Ask students to work in groups and discuss the question:

【设计意图】通过研究教材中所给的范例,学生学习一个完整的项目应包括的主要内容、结构等信息,为完成自己的设计奠定基础。
Step Ⅲ 迁移创新
活动四:Design your own restaurant
1.Ask students to form a group according to their interests and choose a group leader.
2.The group leader assigns the task for each group member.
3.Do research on the Internet.
4.Make a poster.
【设计意图】通过讨论、在网上查找信息,学生以小组活动的形式完成项目。通过这个活动,不仅可以培养学生信息获取、归纳、整合的能力,还可以培养学生健康的审美情趣,形成善于思辨的思维品质
活动五:Make a PPT or a poster for the presentation
Ask students to choose 3 4 classmates to make a new group. And make a PPT or a poster.
活动六:Make a presentation
Ask students to pull everything together to make a presentation to the class,where the key aspects of the restaurant will be explained by the different members of the group.
活动七:Vote
The class should vote on the best restaurant
【设计意图】通过制作PPT或海报进行展示、推选优秀的设计等活动,不仅可以引发学生的思考和对本单元话题的兴趣,而且可以激发学生用英语表达的愿望和信心,促进语言学习和创造过程的进一步发展和提高。
