Unit4 Using Language综合练素养提升
一、阅读七选五
How do actors and actresses memorise hundreds of lines Memorising lines takes practice and constant repetition. However, there are a few ways to make the memorisation process run smoothly and quickly.
Read lines loud and repeat them.
1. ___________To learn lines, an actor must recite the play loud over and over again. Most rehearsals(彩排)encourage this by running through the lines or having a “read through”. By the time opening night arrives, most actors have spoken their lines hundreds of times.
Listen to your cast members (参演人员)
Sometimes inexperienced actors spend rehearsals just looking at fellow performers, waiting patiently to say their next line. 2. ___________This will help the actor learn his lines better because the context of the dialogue is absorbed.
3. ___________
Because there is often not enough rehearsal time, many performers find ways to listen to the play’s dialogue during everyday activities. They use a tape recorder or an MP4 player to listen to the lines from each relevant scene. Some actors prefer to record the lines of all the characters, including their own. 4. ___________Others like recording the lines of fellow cast members, and they leave a blank space so that they can insert their dialogue while listening to the recording.
Think positively and don’t panic.
Most actors will experience stage fright before the opening night. Actors forget lines now and then. When it happens, however, most of the time the audience never notice. If you forget a line in the middle of your performance, don’t freeze. Stay in character. Keep the scene going to the best of your ability. If unfortunately you forget a line once, you will probably never forget that line ever again. 5. ___________
A. Record your lines.
B. Practice makes perfect.
C. Read lines loud and remember them in a flash.
D. For most performers, there is no quicker way of memorising lines.
E. Sometimes embarrassment is the toughest method of memorisation.
F. Then, they not only listen carefully, but they also speak all of the lines.
G. Instead, they should be listening carefully, responding in character at all times.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Today I woke up at four o’clock in the morning to revise for my tenth class math board exam. I revised all the formulas, notes and corrected the mistakes I had made. Oh! It’s eight o’clock. I had to get ready for my exam so that I wouldn’t reach
so much traffic but somehow I reached there on time. When my classmates and I were about to enter the examination hall, sounds of rifles came through. “Oh my gosh! They seem to be terrorists. ”I shouted.
We all got scared and started running for our lives. Those terrorists told us that we had no way to escape from there. They told us that we had to stay there, I meant, in the examination center itself, till their leader got relieved out of jail.
One of the terrorists told that we would be divided into groups and transported to different places so that the government could not cheat them. They were planning to transport me and my friends Madhu, Gayathri, Pranav,Keshav and Krishna Raju to a remote area. They tied our hands and legs with ropes. They were taking us in a milk van. In a check post, some police checked our van, but they did not find us. In this checking procedure suddenly a knife came into my hands.
Then slowly I untied myself and others. We waited for a chance to escape. All of a sudden the van stopped. From a small hole on the van we saw many people coming towards us and far away a bus ready to go to my grandparents’ village. Then slowly with that knife we opened the van door from inside and escaped from there. We entered into the bus but one of the terrorists saw us escaping and he along with others started following us. But we anyhow reached my grandparents’ home.

One possible version:
Paragraph 1
The terrorists came following us and they started searching each and everyone's house in the name of police. I sent all my friends to the basement in my grandparents’ home and locked them in it. Though the terrorists came to my grandparents’ home, they didn’t find us. After they went away, I sent food and water to my friends and I also informed their parents. The next day,I went back to the examination center to rescue all my other classmates. We prepared a plan along with the police.
Paragraph 2
The plan is like this. I would go inside the examination center and give all my classmates masks because the police would spray gas through the school pipelines, which would make all fall unconscious. The next day, everything went smoothly according to our plan. Everyone lost consciousness. The police took away all the weapons and captured the terrorists easily. We all got free from them and the city returned to peace again.
